Description

Because explorers have already scoured the underwater ruins many times over, the shallow areas have few treasures remaining. Nearly all of their games are housed in a small, efficient box with a beautifully minimalist art style. If you take more than three Ruin tokens, though, it becomes very difficult to move (since you take a -3 movement penalty with three movement tokens, and with 6 you cannot move). The triangles are nearest the surface and the hexagons are on the ocean floor (it’s always the way, isn’t it? In the last two months, I rewatched all of the previous MI movies except for the first one, which has such a.

Another good feature is that when a round comes to an end and players haven’t made It back to the surface the treasure sinks to the bottom in a big pile. As you might also guess, you’d like to be able to move, otherwise you’re just dooming yourself to a watery grave. You must actually be able to move, though, to qualify, so no hoarding Ruin tokens and hoping for the best. It’s difficult to balance because you are trying to get further into the depths to get the more valuable treasure, but the further from the submarine the harder it will be to get back. If you are stopped on a Ruin token, you can take it and add it to your stash ( do not look at the number on the other side of it, yet) and then replace that Ruin token with a blank token. With this game, it's all about tactical decision-making - dive too deep, and you might not have enough air to reach the surface; or stay near the surface and settle for the less valuable treasure. Kind of bummed I didn’t get a chance to break it out for Thanksgiving / insert-your-favorite-holiday. If you turn back early you may be able to pick up a second or even third item of treasure before getting back into the submarine.

It starts on 25 units, but goes down by the number of treasure pieces a diver has at the start of their turn, so it runs out fast! To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. If you failed to make it back to the sub, your colleagues will rescue you minus your treasure, throw you in a decompression chamber to get you into shape for the next dive. It's also definitely a push-your-luck game, but you're not actually just pushing your own luck, but everyone else's as well. Push your luck in Deep Sea Adventure by diving into the depths of the ocean and recovering as many treasures as you can before the oxygen runs out.

Since the path is constantly changing, having multiple rounds does make a lot of sense, so I appreciate that in this game. You're never quite sure if the rest of the dive crew will pick up treasure to deplete the oxygen, or if you can trust them and are able to get to the most valuable treasure. When playing a game of Deep Sea Adventure you look at the value of the treasure (arranged in four types; 0-3, 4-7, 8-11, 12-15) and keep it hidden. It comes in a wonderfully small box, with custom diver meeples and wonderful cardboard chits, as well as a cardboard submarine oxygen counter. In addition, at the beginning of their turn, they use up the shared air on the submarine by one point for each treasure they carry.Compounding the impending doom is the fact that your movement is slowed down for each piece of treasure you hold. It will make the movement less because every time you jump the other player you get one free movement. If this review seems a bit out of date, well, it is; I wrote it like a year+ ago and kept meaning to publish it, and now, here we are.

All games in the series come in tiny form factor boxes, with simplistic cut-out artwork and minimal text on the box.I'm looking to add a push-your-luck that has dice to my collection, since I have too few dice in my games and no game that involves these mechanic. Not only the luck factor of what ruins tiles you draw, but also the luck factor of the dice rolling.
