Description

As the game utilizes the same rules as the base King of Tokyo, it is compatible with all expansions and promos. However, the art style will differ. You now may buy one or more of the three face-up cards. To buy a Power card, spend as many energy as the cost indicated at the top of the card. The first monster to reach 20 Victory Points or is the last monster standing will cause the end of the game. This monster will be crowned King of Tokyo and receives bragging rights until the next game has been completed and a new King is crowned. Final Thoughts on King of Tokyo For a 2-player game, instead of gaining victory points while entering or starting your turn in Tokyo, you gain an Energy Charge. End of Game Cost: This is where you need to make your decision in King of Tokyo vs Dark Edition. King of Tokyo Dark Edition is basically a collector’s edition of the original which means it is much better made. This means it will be better across the board in all categories except the price. Right now you are paying 25% more for Dark Edition though that gap is expected to widen. It is up to you if it is worth the extra money. Especially since you basically get a free expansion.

For those that have no experience with what some call “Godzilla-Yahtzee,” it’s a very simple game and you can learn the rules in five minutes or so. The monster that first reaches 20 points or reduces all other monsters to 0 health is crowned King of Tokyo. You become King of Tokyo by claiming 20 victory points or by using your claws, lasers or spiked tails (or shrink rays, or fire-breathing, or poison spit, or nova breath, or, or, or…) eliminate your enemies. Last year, they published a collector’s edition of the game called King of Tokyo: Dark Edition and we’re excited to share our thoughts about it. Let’s compare the original King of Tokyo to King of Tokyo: Dark Edition. If you are outside of Tokyo, you can gain 1 heart for each Heal die rolled. You cannot gain above 10 hearts. You can place it on another Keep card at the start of your next turn (before you roll dice) by spending 1 energy. The game contains additional elements in the form of cards and area control, though these are not primary aspects, which contribute to the premise of the game in a seamless manner. King of Tokyo – The premise

Whether a player rolls 3 hearts, in addition to getting regular healing, they draw an evolution and add it to their hand. This can also apply in Tokyo. s Power Up! introduces 56 evolution cards, 7 tokens, and a new monster: Pandakaï. [5] Re-released in 2017 with updated art as per the second edition of King of Tokyo and including 72 evolution cards. Ciascuno sceglie un mostro da utilizzare e ne prende la scheda con le rotelle per i punti vita (si parte da dieci) e i punti vittoria (si parte da zero, per arrivare a venti).

Which version of King of Tokyo wins?

It’s a cool feature that helps support lower rolls that may frustrate players. It even incentivizes those rolls at some points because of the power tiles that can be collected. If you are in Tokyo (Tokyo City or Tokyo Bay) and you roll any smash dice, you wound all Monsters outside of Tokyo. It’s a game for 2 to 6 players, and giant monsters are fighting to the death. But is the Dark Edition for you? Let’s find out. STORY Being inside of Tokyo City has both positive and negative effects, which need to be balanced for maximum value. However, we’re not quite ready to ditch our original 2011 copy either. That’s partly because we own the Power Up expansion and find fun in playing with those monster evolutions as well. We also have King of New York and will still pull that out from time to time for a slight twist on the theme.

The winner is the first player to collect 20 victory points or the last player still in play. [3] Editions [ edit ]If no monster is in Tokyo, you enter it (and gain one victory point for doing so). If you start your turn inside Tokyo, you gain two victory points. At any time, a player can play an evolution from their hand and applies its effect. If it is permanent, it stays like a keep card. Otherwise, it is discarded after activating.
