It must be made with at least 51% corn and bottled at 40% ABV or higher. So why not give this American classic a try? Two very different distilleries have both released very different whiskies to celebrate the launch of the second instalment in the Kingsman franchise. Hailing from Scotland, the GlenDronach Kingsman Edition 1991 Single Malt is one of the rarest from the estate, with only 2,000 bottles produced for global release, and a mere 100 of them making it to Australian shores. As in the film, a Kingsman doesn’t work alone, so nor should a Kingsman whisky. Old Forester have also come to the party with a Statesman bourbon, in response to the US contingent of the global secret spy ring that saves the world every time. First things first: Statesman was a publicity stunt. Old Forester put this whiskey out basically to be a prop in the second Kingsman movie, and the distillery released a few bottles to the public. It was intended as a limited edition, but lo and behold, people seemed to like it, and Statesman is still widely available on the market today, two years later.

Palate: A really strong crowd pleasing dose of waffles with cherry syrup, honey butter biscuits, a little bit of light red fruits and a bit of oak. After his death, Ginger Ale took over the position of "Agent Whiskey", turning her into a field agent. Nose: A very nice nose like sweet cinnamon bread, baked tart apples and a touch of brown sugar. There’s buttery notes, raisins soaked in brandy and a little bit of banana laffy taffy. Taste: Thin and watery mouthfeel. Raw alcohol. It burns. There's also a lot of (artificial) sweetness here. A bit perfumy and green.
