The Deff Dread is the one model in the box that isn’t new, but it’s amazing and you can never have enough of them. The real heart of the kit is a brand new set of Ork Boyz, with a familiar but updated look. You get a whopping 20 of them, and as any Warboss will tell you, you can never have too many Boyz, so you’ll be off to a great start.

The onslaught of heretics continues to pour out into the galaxy this week, as the next tranche of releases for …Each Combat Patrol is supposed to be balanced against all the others. That might be hard to believe when looking at the contents of the Adeptus Custodes box set, as the boys in gold are notoriously hard! The ferocious sons of Leman Russ, the Wolves of Fenris, the Emperor’s executioners – call them what you will, they’ll tear you to pieces either way. Or at least, Space Wolves players sure do like reminding you that they will. I hope you enjoyed this, please let me know in the comments below how you would build a 1,000 point list from the Combat Patrol Box and why not also let me know what you think to my list. There may well be aspects of the codex or units that I have not included that you think should be, so why not let us know in the comments below. Delivering a payload of heavy support in a supremely survivable frame, you can kit your Deff Dread out with a mix of up to four different melee and shooting weapons to suit your needs. The kit is so customisable that you can field a whole mob of them and have each one look like the distinctive kustom-built product of a Mekboy workshop . Deff Dreads are choppy and shooty and the Boyz are, of course, essential – although, if you’re serious about playing Greenskins, you’ll be needing a lot more of them. These new Boyz sprues arenot too customisable, though, so prepare to build a batch of monopose miniatures.

This unit with their Power Klaws mean they can chew through a lot of the enemies heavy armour. With Strength 10 in combat and AP-3 with flat 2 damage throw them against tanks and watch them krump. The sky’s the limit. Which Kultur do you want to go with, Evil Sunz? Get more vehicles. Goffs? Get more boyz. Deathskulls? Get some lootas. This is a fairly standard foundation to an Ork army. Deffkoptas have long been popular for providing a cheap, tough option for gunning down ranged units, and their huge speed is useful for distracting tougher vehicles that could mow down your squishy grunts. The two vehicles included in the set make this Combat Patrol perhaps the best deal in the range. Drukhari are a high model count army (which already means higher cash costsin general) and most lists will need at least a couple of the bigger skimmers to transport their squishy, lightly-armoured troops to the frontlines.Getting two in a discounted box is very welcome.Yes, you read that right, it contains 30 Poxwalkers. These revolting, shambling so-and-sosare the putrefying sludge on which your Death Guard force will slide inexorably toward the enemy, their foetid forms an ideal, moving bullet spongemaskingyour footslogging Plague Marines as they inch ever closer to contagion range…

Combat Patrol: Orks gives you a respectably sized army right out of the box, perfect for (surprise, surprise) Combat Patrol-sized games. It also makes an excellent start to a Crusade force . And if you already have a collection of Orks, every model here will bolster your burgeoning Waaagh! as it tears across the galaxy. Combat Patrol: Orks is the first chance to get your hands on this Warboss in Mega Armour. The armour design matches the Meganobz , but it’s even more impressive, to suit his status. Not quite as impressive as Ghazghkull Thraka , mind, but this ambitious warboss is working on that. Bring Da Boyz (and Da Noise) Brave, honest and true, they only very occasionally indulge in macabre vampiric rituals with goblets of suspiciously viscous red ‘wine’– and it really is only once in a blue moon that one of them slips into an insane, suicidal killing frenzy fuelled by the overwhelming psychic grief imprinted in his DNA.

Combat Patrol contents

Ah, the Blood Angels– noble and civilised sons of Sanguinius, most handsome, tragic, star-crossed and pretty of all the Emperor’s ‘Primarch’ sons. These renaissance Italy-themed space marines are among the most storied and popular chapters of the Adeptus Astartes. On top of that if you make sure your boyz are within 6″ of him, when in combat they’ll benefit from a +1 on their hit rolls in combat. They operate as an ‘elite’ army in Warhammer 40k, meaning they tend to field fewer miniatures than their opponents for the same budget of points, but each model can hope to deal out more punishment to the enemy before it gets blown away. This force is led by a mega-armoured behemoth of a greenskin. Not content with the usual shooty ’fing in one hand and choppy ’fing in the other, he’s opted for ALL choppy, in BOTH hands, happy to let his grot “assistant” ride shotgun, or, er, big shoota in this case.

Their dynamic poses and extra details make them a joy to build and paint whether they’re your very first Boyz, or you’ve already got 100 on your display shelves. This box is the only place to get the new Boyz for now, so snap it up this weekend. Deff From AboveYou’ll get enough bits to arm them with a selection of shootas, sluggas, and choppas, plus of course guns with extra dakka, and even killier weapons for each nob. Again, because their Core, if they’re within 6″ of the Warboss they’ll gain a +1 on their to hit roll in combat meaning that you negate the -1 to hit for having power klaws.
