The Parish Council works in partnership with Rotherham Borough Council and other local bodies such as South Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive. We allow swimmers to swim in wetsuits and ‘skins’ (i.e. just your swimming costume) but you must be able to demonstrate your swim competence and experience. All swimmers will be asked to swim a test route before being allowed onto the longer course. Historic England. "Church of St Leonard (1132783)". National Heritage List for England . A nice place for a walk on a sunny afternoon. Parking is currently free and there was plenty of spaces. We wanted a nice walk to burn off some energy and also find some geocaches that are placed here. It took us around an hour to walk around the lake, but you could do it faster if you wanted to. Children from the aged of 8 can swim with SYS – as long as they can demonstrate a good swim technique and are accompanied by a parent or guardian who is a competent swimmer themselves. The Reresbys intermarried with other Yorkshire gentry families. Among the stained glass at the Old Hall in High Melton was a panel showing the arms of Reresby impaling those of the Levett family. Although recorded in the Sheffield archives, the panel was apparently lost when the Old Hall was subsequently renovated. We had a walk round the lake today on a beautiful sunny but cold day. It’s a good 45 minute walk but nice and flat. The next meeting of Thrybergh Parish Council is to be held on Thursday 2 November at 6:30pm in the parish hall. The walking is so rewarding, you will most definitely get a great experience, walking on the newly resurfaced tarmac which has Hollywood style glitter to it, the surface of the walking path is such a tremendous improvement from years gone by, you’ll notice how the path is almost level and not sloping too much like you find a lot of pavement’s. money has been pumped into the Thrybergh county Park through the levelling up of the north, and some lottery money. Each year a sum of money called a ‘precept’ is collected through your council tax. This money is used by your parish council to improve facilities and services for local people. The Parish council can also apply for grants, loans and receives money from rents and leases. Come and tour the fantastic shared ownership properties at Whinney Hill. [3] It is popular with anglers (fly fishing) during the summer and walkers all year round. There are level footpaths that provide a circular route around the reservoir, and these are suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. [4] The estate was passed on to the Normainvilles around the year 1200, and it remained with them until 1316, when Sir Adam Reresby became Lord of Thrybergh. [4] For the next 400 or so years, an unbroken succession of sixteen generations of Reresbys held their place in Thrybergh. [5] Facilities [ edit ]

It is located between Thrybergh and Hooton Roberts on the outskirts of Rotherham and opened in 1983. Swimmers wearing sports wetsuits will be restricted to the short course. Thrybergh has one public house, The Lord Reresby. As well as this, other places include the Thrybergh Sports Centre now closed The Fosters Garden Centre and Fosters Petrol Station Now closed

We were very disappointed at the condition of the path in parts. It was unbelievably muddy in parts. It wouldn’t cost much to put some lime chipping down to make this a more pleasant walk and a safer one as it was very slippy in parts.
