Step 3: Wait until the glue is dry- then wrap up your cardboard with foil. You can tape it if you like, but it stays pretty well on the cardboard if you fold it over

From your list written on Monday choose another animal and compare it to your fact file animal.Try to choose something very different for example if you chose a lion first now choose a Ladybird. David Litchfield is the author of best-selling books including The Bear and the Piano, which won the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize, Illustrated Book Category in 2016 and has sold over 120,000 copies in the UK. And while I loved the messages about family and friends and finding what you're looking for, at the same time, I honestly thought the ending was going to be different, and I think that's where this left me a little dissatisfied. I was curious to see where the author was going - was she going to realize her dream at the end, and travel in space? Was she going to pass away and through death, finally see the stars (was totally preparing myself for this)? Was she going to find Earth family and space friends and a way to bridge the two? The ending as it turned out just felt a bit... rushed? Forced? Heavy-handed? I don't know quite how to say it, other than it just didn't quite satisfy me after how much I enjoyed the rest of the book. It wasn't bad, just not as good as the rest. Needs of an animal. Can all animals be kept as a pet? Think about a particular animal and find out if that animal could be a pet.

Ask your parent to help andblindfold you with a scarf or material. What can yousee now? Which sense are youusingnow? Record the animals that have paw prints that will reach exactly 20 cm if they were placed one in front of the other. How did you find your answer? If you have access to the internet for your child's learning there is a really good follow up sequence for our fractions work here- starting at week 1- There are online videos to show you child what to do.

Could you planthe sequel to 'Do Not Wash This Bear' based on the end of the book from Monday's bedtime story? Step 4: Using your fingers, rub over your hidden drawing- and watch it magically appear! You will see that this elephant’s cardboard was corrugated, and the lines are coming through. Write a report about the solar system and the stars. What do you already know? What would you like to find out?Investigate how they can find 1/2 of different amounts (even numbers only to start). Explain "We write this down as 1/2 or half. The whole number is shared equally into two parts. To find half we count 1 part that is why it is 1/2" You can develop this further by looking at quarters- 4 parts counting 1 part. Choose letters that make words that can be read phonetically. Write the letters in chalk on the ground outside. Give your child a word and they must spell it by jumping from letter to letter. This could also be done on paper inside the house. Work with togetherto identify a ‘caring’ way of talking to people compared to an 'uncaring'way. Discuss their reasoning. How does the persons reaction change if they are listening and responding caringly? How might this work at home? How can we talk caringly?

References to late 70s/early 80s Spielberg ‘classics’ abound; ‘Close Encounters…’ and ‘E.T.’ clearly inspiring David’s illustrations – a red Elliott-style hoody featured at the end of the book, too good to just be a coincidence! Step 2: Squeeze glue over your lines that you have drawn. My class of 7 year olds needed a little bit of help with this so watch out! The next lesson in the White Rose fraction maths can be found here if you have access to online learning. Shape hunt: Take your child on a shape hunt around their house and garden. Look at the different shapes of the windows, doors, and houses. Can they name them? Are they 2D or 3D shapes? Ask them to create a picture of their house or street. The illustrations are gorgeous, first and foremost. I loved the play with the flashlight, the softness of the nighttime forest, the colors of the spaceship. If for no other reason, read this for the pictures. Saw one review here talking about how the text actually detracted from the story, and I can see that. This could have been a great wordless picture book too - the illustrations carry that much of the story. Some of the illustrations don’t have text to accompany them. Can you write some sentences (or some speech) that match the pictures?
