Description

Tsutomu Nihei is using an interesting approach, where he’s telling the story mainly through the artwork. Kyrii encounters several different factions (a lot of them not human) and subsequently a lot of trouble on the way up. But barely anyone seems to know much about their own history or that of the other occupants. As far as I can see, the machines have taken over and being one of the remaining humans gets you in big trouble. By the time of the events of the manga, the City has basically become a series of layered, concentric Dyson spheres filled with haphazard architecture, largely devoid of life. These layers compose the supporting scaffold of the City, known as the Megastructure. The Megastructure is extremely durable, with only a direct blast from a Gravitational Beam Emitter being able to drill through it. In addition, the underside of each Megastructure layer periodically illuminates the overside of the one below to provide a day–night cycle. Traveling between layers is generally challenging due to the City's chaotic layout and the dangerous Safeguard response such endeavor may cause, with the means to do so being either climbing stairs for days or taking elevators that reach relativistic speeds. The buildings on each layer are largely uninhabited, although scattered human tribes, rogue Builders, hostile Safeguards, and Silicon Life can be found throughout the entire City. I was satisfied with this series. Many times I was lost with only my sense impressions to guide me, often awed by the movement between frames and the way that distance was portrayed. It added another dimension to make me, as a human, feel awed and small. That is worth the time spent reading this series. I am not a big fan of the action sequence in the beginning of this chapter. Similarly to scenes in previous chapters I found it hard to interpret what is happening. What did happen?

I don't know how or why is Sanakin is an agent of the Administration now because she was a Safeguard and she died in Toha Heavy Industries. I don't know why the Builder protecting Cibo says not to trust the Administration, except that the Builders are under Safeguard control just like the City itself. And I still don't know what the infection mentioned since the beginning of the story is or how it came to be; I'm guessing it was created by the Safeguard purely to wipe out the Net Terminal Gene, but I don't know why they wouldn't just make a contagion to wipe out all of humanity to begin with. Often you will see beautiful art and wonder, "What is that?" Sometimes the plot will shift or characters will be talking about something as if we know it only to leave us in speculation. It is as if Nihei took a sort of anti-Hollywood approach which I appreciate and puts the reader in a position as if they have been part of the world of Blame! since its beginning. Unfortunately, you simply don't know all you should if this were the case. Santos, Carlo (July 29, 2005). "Blame! DVD - Review". Anime News Network . Retrieved April 6, 2020. the setting of Blame! isn't so hard to understand; it's the usual post-apocalyptic science fiction fare.

It was uncertain that how long Kyrii was on a quest to find the human with The Net Terminal Gene. He was very determant, iron willed, strong silent type. My favoriet type of character. They never complain and don't think anything other then the job or quest at hand. Kyrii's journey was kind of melencolic one because of the empty vast space he dwelled in... He was so little and lonely in The Vast Spaces and around gigantic structures... And in the end he was alone... still trying to achive the quest... :/ that was so sad... :/ don't get me wrong, it was a well done end but a bit confusing. I also liked that many things left unclear, i'm glad that we don't have encyclopedic information about everything in the end. I prefer this mystery on many things about the world of Blame!, the story is more paralel with the real life in an interesting way like this.

What I do know is that Cibo became a Level 9 Safeguard when she gained temporary access to the Netsphere while going after Davine Lu. I can only assume she became a Safeguard because the Safeguards within the Netsphere infected her somehow. Now, the Administration wants Cibo even though she's a Safeguard because of sphere that appeared in her womb when she transformed holds the savior of the City. Dialoge, die spärlich gesät sind, helfen auch hier mal mehr, mal weniger, um das Gesamtbild zu erkennen. The future this takes place in is beyond any science fiction I've ever encountered, possibly millions of years in the future. The personification of network safeguards and other entities is so cleverly done. And all with dark gothic and cyberpunk tones. Excellent book, very atmospheric art and gotta admit more action and less introspection than original Blame volumes. Which was good for a change. I liked the plot, safeguards, silicon life, and humans living in this world. It was very novel and the why tech was integrated into this world was well done and added depth and intrigue to what was going on. The artwork was masterfully crafted and I feel Nihei let his imagination run wild, especially with the characters and the megastructure we see such creative beings and interesting character designs.

Killy, a silent loner possessing an incredibly powerful weapon known as a Gravitational Beam Emitter, wanders a vast technological world known as "The City". He is searching for Net Terminal Genes, a (possibly) extinct genetic marker that allows humans to access the "Netsphere", a sort of computerized control network for The City. The City is an immense volume of artificial structure, separated into massive "floors" by nearly-impenetrable barriers known as " Megastructure". The City is inhabited by scattered human and transhuman tribes as well as hostile cyborgs known as Silicon Life. The Net Terminal Genes appear to be the key to halting the unhindered, chaotic expansion of the Megastructure, as well as a way of stopping the murderous robot horde known as the Safeguard from destroying all of humanity.Blame! (stylized in all caps) is a Japanese science fiction manga series written and illustrated by Tsutomu Nihei. It was published by Kodansha in the seinen manga magazine Monthly Afternoon from 1997 to 2003, with its chapters collected in ten tankōbon volumes. A six-part original net animation by Group TAC was produced in 2003, with a seventh episode included on the DVD release. An anime film adaptation by Polygon Pictures was released as a Netflix original in May 2017.
