The Dictionary of Body Language by Joe Navarro | Goodreads The Dictionary of Body Language by Joe Navarro | Goodreads

What makes this book stand out from other body language books is that it tells you all the necessary information and explains how to apply it to your daily life by using real-life scenarios. How to use nonverbal cues and signals to communicate more effectively and get the reactions you want Aside from there being misinformation scattered about, (Napoleon wasn't 5'4", George W Bush didn't get his first passport when he became president) the authors completely rely on logical fallacies to prove their points. They make huge sweeping generalizations (they said Britain, Germany, etc. have been world powers is because their populations often mirror body language...... What??? And also that heavy smokers haven't been breast-fed whereas non smokers have been) and completely lost their credibility. In the book, there are lots of mistakes pointed out to be avoided in business situations and especially has a lot of advice for women to obtain a more firm stance in their meetings.Thank you for helping me choose the right body language book for me. You and your team are very helpful. Thank you and keep up the good work. Sue. Reply

Books on Body Language to Read in 2023 - UpJourney The 12 Best Books on Body Language to Read in 2023 - UpJourney

All in all, this was another book I used as research for the series I am writing. The best thing about it is that a) it's comprehensive (there are even chapters about mirroring another person's body language or height differences or seating positions) and b) it has useful illustrations. I recommend it to other (aspiring) writers, just be careful to take it with a grain of salt. Second, there were very few references to woman vs woman relationships. (In fact, the authors presented a very petty/catty attitude between women as the only plausible one. What about female friends? Is the notion that alien?) It's main purpose, I believe, is to refresh your memory. If you are not sure what a particular gesture or pose means, you can just look it up here. It's much easier to do it with this book, since it's content is categorized from upper to lower body. Plus it has more info than "What every body is saying" and no storytelling. As a writer I'm finding this book helpful in the art of showing vs. telling when it comes to the wide array of emotions of "body language". The eyes are frequently referred to as the "windows to the soul" since they are capable of revealing a great deal about what a person is feeling or thinking. Becoming more aware (before you speak or act) of how can happen to you to behave irrational or over emotional; Subtle body-language cues are pattern triggers for people lying, like when an individual displays physical expressions of fear, anxiety, or being uncomfortable; all of which translate into emotions one could feel when lying; but not always.

The Definitive Book of Body Language by Allan - Waterstones

Overall, his writing is interesting and thought-provoking but is quite padded in places. It’s symptomatic of this kind of industry, but Bowden does come across as patronising in some places. Even so, it’s a worthwhile read. ProsYou Say More Than You Think: A 7-Day Plan for Using the New Body Language to Get What You Want – Janine Driver, Mariska van Aalst The book is divided into 19 chapters, 15-16 of which deal directly with specific aspects of body language. Language such as foot positioning, hand gestures, and the handling of objects like cigarettes. It codifies certain gestures like the ‘steeple’ and the ‘catapult’, and details the emotions and attitudes likely to be present in a person displaying them. You can also understand how such gestures are likely to be received and reacted to by others. Have you ever heard someone refer to their need for personal space? Have you ever started to feel uncomfortable when someone stands just a little too close to you?
