The blanket started out as her son Jon's scouting camp blanket, but Ann took it on when she became a Girlguiding leader. She was always on the lookout for new badges when she was away or at Brownie holidays and was very proud when she completely filled it. I guess that one is rather wholesome, just like most Brownies were. Congrats, that’s fame. Lots of people but their programme badges on their blankets when they move from one section to the next. But some people create something completely new with their badges and old uniform. Everly is only two months old but has been put on the waiting list for our local Rainbows since the day she was born,' says leader Rachael from 2nd Falmouth Brownies. All girls should have a uniform top and bottom chosen from the Brownie uniform range. These can be worn for unit meetings, trips and events where formal uniform is needed. Although slightly over the top, if you collected enough badges as your time as just a Brownie and there was no longer space, you will have had a blanket. Specifically, a blanket that your mum sewed the badges onto one by one and you brought on every single family holiday to flex. This comes straight after the strange initiation ceremony, you form the number three with your fingers and make the moment that’ll define the rest of your time as a Brownie for as long as you can remember. Making your promise was such a big deal, with all the parents taking videos and photos to be inevitably shared all across Facebook while you face the deep internal fear of stumbling when reciting the promise and Brownie Guide Law. For anyone on this thread that hasn't yet bought a sash, buy the gilet instead for badges. Far nicer and much easier to sew on!

I sewed my DDs' onto the sash, then when they went to Guides, I sewed the whole sash onto a camp blanket. Dd has some brownies badges that she’s earned since October, but as she’d only been attending on zoom, the badges have just been sat in a to pile until now. It is very possible the promise has changed since I was a Brownie but nonetheless the theme of the Queen being our saviour is apparent. You had to promise to do your best, stay true to yourself, to help others and to serve the Queen and community and to keep the Brownie Guide Law. The law was actually pretty cute and set a pathway for thousands of girls across the world: “A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a good turn every day.” Respect to that. Good values. All you need is a needle, threadand pair of scissors. It’salso helpful to have some pins to keep the badge in place while you’re sewing. Cut a piece of thread, tie a double knot in one end and put the thread through the needle. Then, go from underneath the uniform and then go up and down along the edge of the badge all the way around, until you get to where you started.Cut the thread from underneath the uniform and tie a double knot.

Brownies might also want to accessorise with other items from our range, for example, with a baseball cap, but this is not part of the uniform. Where do Brownie badges go?Andyou’redone! The stitchesdon’thave to bereally neat, it’s all about having the badges on your uniform and learning a new skillif you’ve never done it before. I have lots of badges & love collecting them, having been in guiding since I was a Brownie,’ says Sarah, a leader at 4 th Ashtead Guides. ‘I have my Brownie and Guide sashes and am currently on my second camp blanket as the first one got filled up. It’s more than likely at least one girl in your friendship will have been in the girl guides, and will have a story to tell no matter how long they were in the Brownies for. You’re a Brownie for life, not just for your childhood. You make life-long friends and complete various tasks to fill your Brownie sash. Totally new to all this so I was wondering if there are any rules and special placings that I have to abide by? I can barely even work out what bit of the sash to sew them onto. I have, in the past, gone for the "shove them in the badge box" method of badge placement as this requires no effort whatsoever. However, they were told to "dress smartly, including sashes" for tonight and I cant help feeling I should have sewn some more badges on. If pledging your allegiance to God and the Queen wasn’t enough this song had you skipping about singing: “We’re joined together in our wish to try to do our best.” What a tune, right? A little bit pledge of allegiance vibes, yeah, but who cares – it’s Brownies! 2. Walking through an archway to become an official Brownie Best is to put the sash in the wash with some fabric softener - i don't know the science but it makes it much easier to sew through. Then when you are sewing on the badges, make sure you are just catching the top thread and not going all the way through. Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers!
