Planning a trip to the land of tapas? Make sure you know the best time to visit Spain based on tourist trends, weather, and the fun happenings of this crazy cool country. That said, just because it’s peak season doesn’t mean you won’t be able to find some peace and quiet while you travel through Spain. Tons of locals leave the country during the summer to escape the Spanish heat (and tourists), or head to the coastal beaches to cool off. All of this goes to show that September is a simply magical time to visit Spain. October – Best Time to Visit Andalusia

One of Barcelona's most romantic events is the Sant Jordi Festival, a hybrid event similar to Valentine's Day held on April 23. The man of the hour, Sant Jordi (St. George in English), is the patron saint of Catalonia, the region where Barcelona is located. April 23 also happens to be the date that celebrated writers Cervantes and Shakespeare died, and this literary coincidence plays a big role in the festivities as well. Men traditionally show their affection for loved ones on this day by buying them a book as a gift. Semana Santa, the week before Easter, is the spring break equivalent in Spain. Everyone is out of school and many Spaniards are also traveling during this time, so flights, trains, and accommodations will be extra expensive during this week. April sees many religious celebrations for Holy Week, especially in southern Spain. Make sure you are prepared for the parades and celebrations that can affect normal movement and travel through Spain. with maximum daytime temperatures around 21°C (70°F), minimum nighttime temperatures around 12°C (53°F) and moderate monthly rainfall. November (Wednesday): Virgin of Almudena ( Virgen de la Almudena) – Madrid (not an official holiday, however)

November (Thursday): Virgin of Almudena ( Virgen de la Almudena) – Madrid (not an official holiday, however)

The government in Spain sets the Spanish national holidays each year, although Spanish bank holidays differ between each of the regions. While each city observes the national holidays in Spain, regional holidays are set by the local governments.

No matter where you choose, you’ll be pleasantly surprised on a trip to Spain in November. December – Celebrate the Holiday Season Spanish-style!

If you’re a winter sports lover, January is a perfect time to head out to the Sierra Nevada mountains for some skiing, snowboarding, or fireside tapas. There’s also plenty of snowshoeing and snowmobiling in the Pyrenees and Picos de Europa for different mountain views. May is also the month of the Cordoba Patios Festival, which is celebrated with events, parades, flower “wars”, and patio contests for residents to show off the finest of spring on their doorsteps! June – Spain Heats Up! The beach is understandably quite crazy in the summer, as everyone is scrambling to cool off in the pristine Spanish waters. This is why it’s actually best to avoid hitting the beach between July and August, and going during the spring instead! Spain's capital city is bustling with events throughout the month of April, as locals are finally emerging from the cold of winter and are ready to enjoy Madrid's terrace bars and open parks. Music lovers especially will want to keep an eye out for the Festimad Music Festival, which typically holds nightly concerts, but has not yet been rescheduled for 2021. When it comes to tourism, peak season in Spain is during the sun-kissed summer months. You can expect hoards of people throughout the country during July and August, all eager to drink some sangria and hit the beach. You can opt to travel Spain independently or opt to join these multi-day tour from seasoned experts like G-Adventures. This Tapas and Flamenco Tour around Spain and Portugal is something we have been itching to do. with temperatures that range from cold to warm and precipitation levels ranging from almost none to heavy. The unfortunate oyster incident lands Quirke in the local hospital, where he is attended to by Dr Angela Lawless. The doctor bears an uncanny resemblance to a woman called April Latimer, a friend of Quirke’s daughter, Phoebe. He’d spotted the same woman earlier at a local wine bar, but convinced himself it was only his imagination. After all, it couldn’t be the troubled April. She was killed five years earlier by her brother, following a scandal about their well-connected family who had ties to the government. The more he thinks about it, the more Quirke is convinced she is April, whose body was never found, and he convinces a reluctant Phoebe to join them in San Sebastian, escorted by Detective St John Stafford. To close out the year, December is the time for Christmas festivities throughout the country. Think lively spirits, colorful lights, and widespread celebrations wherever you go. Doesn’t get much better than a Spanish holiday season, now does it? The country really comes alive to cater to everyone who’s come for a visit. Restaurants and business operate on full hours, there’s always something to do or see, and there are plenty of festivals and events to attend for a huge dose of Spanish culture.

Bank holidays in Spain that fall on weekends are sometimes replaced with alternate days (usually on the following Monday) if the regional government so chooses. More recently, however, alternate days have not always been given. La Passió, a performance of "The Passion of the Christ," takes place every weekendfrom mid-March until early April in the town of Esparraguera, Catalonia, near Barcelona. An angry, powerful book seething with love and outrage for a community too often stereotyped or ignored. Other festivals during March include the Sant Medir festival in Barcelona, where horse-drawn carriages filled with Spaniards throw treats to the people in the Garcia neighborhood. There’s also Semana Santa , the most Holy Week of the year. It’s a massive religious celebration throughout Spain during Easter, and can last for more than a week! April – Prime Time for Adventure ActivitiesJust like its counterparts in Seville and Malaga, Cordoba's Semana Santa processions have all the flair and passion you can come to expect from Andalusian Easter celebrations. After Holy Week, don't miss out on the Cata de Vinos Montilla-Moriles from April 21–25, 2021. This massive wine tasting festival perfectly encapsulates the magical essence of Cordoba in springtime. One of the most beautiful months to visit Spain, the weather in May is simply superb. You’ll have warm and clear, sunny days with cooler evenings, perfect for city strolls of walks along the beach. You may find yourself pleasantly surprised when you have an entire side street to yourself on the hunt for the best tapas. During these times, you’ll have pleasant weather, way less crowds, decent prices, and plenty to do! Plus, since these times are the off-season, accommodation will typically be cheaper, you’ll have a much easier time getting a dinner reservation, and you won’t have to spend half of your day waiting in line for the next attraction.
