The MTL draw is nice and tight, though I would have liked a tad more vapor on the inhale. Compared to the UWELL Caliburn, my current #1 favorite pod system, it feels a little underwhelming. It’s good, but it’s just not quite as good as the Caliburn. Depending on the system you’re currently using, prepare to be more or less impressed by SMOK’s latest evolution in the NOVO line. With respect to performance, the NOVO 2 –like its predecessor –is decent, I just don’t think it quite hits hard enough to get inside our Best Pod Vape Guide, alongside the likes of the UWELL Caliburn and Orchid Ultra. However, the Novo 2 is known as leakage king, whenever I carry this little cute thing around me, the ejuice will always be leaked to everywhere I go. It’s just such a mess.

The most impressive part of the Novo 2 might just be its battery. As I mentioned earlier, it’s the same size as the original Novo but somehow has a battery nearly twice as large. That’s an impressive feat of manufacturing. Smok recommend the 1.4ohm pod for nicotine salts and the 1.0ohm pod for regular nicotine ejuices but I found them to both be good for either. The 1.0ohm mesh pod will deliver a slightly stronger throat hit but it’s still perfectly fine for use with nic salts. In my few weeks with the NOVO 2, I haven’t had any issues with this aspect of the device. It hits consistently every time. On the bottom of the device, you have a microUSB port for charging. This makes the SMOK NOVO 2 an ideal first vape for anyone that is trying to transition off of cigarettes onto a vape. It is simple to use, nice and compact, and it has great battery life. The original Novo was a great device but battery life was a downside. It looks like Smok listened to the community when making the Novo 2 so I’m excited to see how it performs. They each hold 2ml and you have options for either 1ohm or 1.4ohm coil heads.

This is a draw activated vape so you just have to inhale on the mouthpiece to vape. There’s no physical fire button or buttons of any sort. It’s a very easy to use device. The draw activation works great too and requires little effort to vape. This doesn’t mean it isn’t very good, it just means that there are better options out there –though they do cost more!The key things it has (and does right) are battery life and its draw; the MTL draw is near-perfect, just like the Caliburn or, if you’re coming from cigarettes, just like pulling on a real smoke. There’s an LED light on the front of the device that is barely noticeable. It’s just a small dot. When you vape on the Novo 2 it lights up to signal your battery charge level. The colors are:The Novo 2 comes with two pods: a 1.4ohm dual coil pod and a 1.0ohm mesh coil pod. The coils are built in and non-removable. The 1.4ohm pod delivers a restricted MTL draw while the 1.0ohm pod is more of a loose MTL. Thanks to inhale activation, all you have to do is puff on the mouthpiece to start vaping. To keep things as simple as possible, it will also select the correct wattage for any of the compatible pods when they are inserted. This means whether you prefer the looser draw and increased vapour production of an RDTL, or an MTL vape that feels more like a cigarette, all you have to do is swap the pod and the Novo 2C automatically resets itself. Conversely, if you’re the proud owner of the original NOVO device, the NOVO 2 will offer a familiar feel and function, but probably won’t seem like a “game-changing” advancement. Me personally, I prefer the 1.4ohm pods because they deliver a tighter, more focussed draw. Both are very decent though, so make sure you try both to see which suits your tastes best. It is worth noting, though, that it isn’t ACTUAL resin; rather, it is some kind of treated plastic. Doing this allowed SMOK to keep the price nice and low.
