I have to say that the print quality of this printer is far better than the ZINK options on this list because like the QX10, it uses thermal dye-sublimation printing, which allows the ink to dry instantly. Its prints are long-lasting (rated for 100 years). Thermal printing technology — as seen on this Fujifilm Instax Mini Link 2 — yields some of the most high-quality, durable prints possible with an instant camera. The camera is also one of the fastest, printing photos in seconds. We also like the Fujifilm app, which features an easy-to-use interface and makes connecting to the printer a breeze using Bluetooth. It records sound too. And of course, you can connect it to your iPhone and print photos from there as well. You can also control the camera via your iPhone if you need to do some remote shooting. So you really do have the best of all worlds.

Dye sublimation is similar to Zink printing, but can produce a clearer and more vibrate picture because more passes are made on the print. Fun Features We also publish tips and tutorials about photography, helping everyone become a better photographer. This depends on the printer. The Instax Link series uses actual instant film (the same as you put in Instax film cameras) to produce an authentic instant print. This is a definite stylistic choice, giving you a low-detail, low-fidelity, analog quality that can't be achieved on traditional printers, but comes at a cost –as instant film is pretty pricey. The app has all the same features as the other apps. You can print from your camera roll or connect a bunch of social media accounts and print directly from there. You can also do all your basic editing and select a pre-defined filter from within the app. Also, you can print different photos as collages. The smartphone app connects to the printer via Bluetooth or NFC, which should be a fairly simple process, but the KODAK app adds an extra step to connect it after initial pairing. As a result, my phone found the device but wouldn’t connect and I ended up Googling why not, which led me to a video on where to find the in-app toggle switch – upper right corner of the gallery, btw. The QX10 is small enough to squeeze into the top of a camera bag, or even my partner's handbag, making it perfect for travel and parties. "It's a neat and fully portable printer that gives good-quality results, is dead easy to use and has reasonable running costs," says our reviewer Matthew Richards.

From a hardware perspective, the majority of the heavy lifting behind these print-tasks is being done by the print paper. Though when it comes to the hardware necessary to deliver quality color prints, Polaroid does not disappoint. In fact, color is almost synonymous with their brand. The wider version of Fujifilm's original Instax Mini Link, the Link Wide is one of the best portable printers for casual use, with fun and creative ways to customize images by using templates and emojis. There are some great features of this wireless printer – including its superb QR code functions, although its features aren't nearly as impressive as those available with the original Instax Link Mini (see number 5 in this guide). The Mini Link app includes a variety of fun features. With Sketch and Edit mode, one can use any handwriting, artwork, or photography to create unique transparent overlays for their prints. For more fun, upload a photo of you along with a photo of a friend – or even a celebrity – to test your compatibility! Several filters and frames are also available for customizing each photo before printing. However, if you’re looking for accessories for this printer specifically, you won’t find a lot – maybe a couple of sleeves and that’s it. Connectivity: Most portable photo printers use Bluetooth to connect to your phone, where you can manage and print photos using a companion app, but a few also use WiFi to connect to your phone. We recommend Bluetooth, as its a bit easier and works from anywhere (i.e. outside), and an intuitive companion app is always a bonus. The good thing about this printer is that it uses wireless AirPrint to print from anywhere via your mobile device. You can print using technically any software – for example, Photoshop or the photo app on your phone. Cost Per Print
