Description

Each GoPro Model weighs between 70g and 130g. Unless you’re trying to climb Everest, these differences don’t really affect anything, as 70g and 130g are both exceptionally light. However, what may matter is the size. You will find that the Hero 4 session and Hero 5 Session have a different design to the rest of the models. They are basically small cubes with dimensions of around 37.9mm (width) by 37.9mm (height) by 36.1mm(depth). This makes them approximately half the size of other models.

Both cameras have USB-C, but only the flagship offers an HDMI output for connecting to a display and/or GoPro’s Media Mod accessory. Both cameras are as rugged as each other and are waterproof down to 33ft/10m.On the other hand, not many people buy a GoPro to shoot stills – and while the Hero 10 is a passable, waterproof stand-in for your smartphone, it has been left a little behind on this front by rivals. We have compared the frames per second(fps) for each GoPros’ main video formats. These are (from lowest quality to highest quality) 720p, 960p, 1080p, 2.7K, 4K, and even 5K. Obviously, the higher the frame rate, the better the video quality. Model The most noticeable difference between the HERO4 Silver and HERO3+ Silver is the one you see as soon as the cameras are turned around. The HERO4 Silver is the first GoPro model to have a touch LCD screen. The menu navigation system remains the same as before, requiring you to use the buttons in combination to swap through the menu items, select and confirm. At first it can be difficult to find the options that you want, but after a short time (and once you find the settings that suit your activity) this stops being an issue. Wireless control The choice between the GoPro application and the Wi-Fi remote was a no-brainer for me. While the remote has its advantages in the range and battery life department (you can save your phone's juice), the GoPro application is just too pleasant to use, especially after enduring years of clunky GoPro menu systems on a monochromatic LCD screen smaller than a postage stamp.

The Hero4 cameras have Bluetooth connectivity, in addition to the WiFi built-in by the Hero3+ shooters. All cameras can be used with the Smart Remote and the GoPro App. In recent years, the size and shape of the GoPro camera have not changed significantly. The nude dimensions of all these action cams (when not in protective housings) are 41 x 59x 21/30mm. The depth measurements will vary depending on whether or not the protruding lenses are taken into consideration. Both fit in the same housing. However, if you plan to take them in water or around it, you will need to use separate clear standard housing. Other Features It’s hard to give exact figures when it comes to battery life because it depends on how you use your GoPro, the temperature, and the age of the battery. However, we have given some approximate figures below. These are for continuous recording of 1080p video with no other features turned on. Model In video mode, the rear touchscreen enables you to scroll through four presets, each designed to suit a range of scenarios. These presets are called Standard, Activity, Cinematic and Slo-Mo. Each of them can be customised to suit your needs, and you also have the ability to create an extra six custom presets and add them to an easy-access list.

GoPro Smart Remote Hero4 | Hero 3+ | Hero 3 – Overview

The GoPro HERO4 Silver is an amazing camera that captures beautiful video footage. However, the GoPro HERO3+ is even better because it has a faster frame rate and is more durable. HD recording The front mounted button enables direct access to the modes and settings that, once accessed, can be adjusted using the top button. Once you've selected the required mode, the top button is used to start (and stop) recording footage, take a picture or shoot a burst of images at up to 10 fps. However, pay close attention to the GoPro camera comparison, especially if you plan to use yours as your main stills and video camera. The flagship also does slightly better with live streaming, offering 1080p60 w/HyperSmooth 4.0, while the smaller camera offers only 720p quality. It’s also alone in working as a webcam.

Finally, the White Edition uses an even lower-capped processor. It's HD video caps out at 30fps for 1080p and 960p and 60fps for 720p and WVGA. Still photos are captured at only 5MP with a maximum burst of 3fps over a single second. The GoPro offers a huge range of resolutions from WVGA up to 4K 17:9. But if you want to record at resolutions from 2.7K or above, the live view preview cuts out as soon as you start recording. Considering the amount of data involved this isn't really surprising, but it's not ideal. If portability is of utmost importance to you then the Hero 4 Session and Hero 5 Session are the way to go. Protune allows GoPro users the ability to shoot at a higher quality with less compression. You can adjust settings such as color, ISO limit, and white balance. You can choose a flat, neutral profile to make it easier to include the footage in a professional workflow. Exposure value compensation can also be adjusted to adjust brightness. All of these GoPros use reasonably fast fixed F2.8 aperture ultra-wide-angle lenses. The GoPro HERO4 offers a lens aperture of f/2.8, while the GoPro HERO3+ offers a lens aperture of f/2.8. The GoPro HERO4 is therefore capable of capturing images with greater clarity and detail than the GoPro HERO3+. Field of view (FOV).

Size/Portability

They are identical in terms of design and build. The HERO4 Silver is heavier due to the addition of an LCD screen. Remember that the important thing is coming up with novel GoPro uses and ideas to make your vlogs more interesting – all GoPro models allow you to do that!

Note: The Settings/Tag button is compatible with HERO4 cameras only. GoPro Smart Remote Hero4 | Hero 3+ | Hero 3 – Whats included Notice the absence of the terminal cover? It surfaced after a long vacation on the floor somewhere. By default, the app enables you to see a streaming preview of what the camera is seeing. While there is a short delay of about 1-2 seconds, it's a definite improvement over the last model. However, this delay is still a little annoying. You only get one chance to record the most exciting times in your life so make sure you do it right. Using a GoPro camera is the best way to get quality footage when on the move, but the variety of models available can make selecting one difficult. That’s why we have compared the essential specs and features so that you will know exactly what you’re getting. Video Resolution

Other Factors To Consider

Be aware that enabling features such as Wifi, Bluetooth, and Voice control can noticeably reduce battery life. Repeatably turning a GoPro off and on also drains a lot of power. GoPro has not yet revealed the size of the sensor in the Hero 3+ Silver. However, we know that the original Hero3 Silver used an even smaller 1/2.7 inch type sensor. 4K Recording GoPro has always offered a good selection of recording resolutions for video and this Hero3+ edition adds to them with SuperView. This mode captures footage at 1080p, but rather than use a 16:9 aspect ratio, it pushes it to 4:3. It does this by stretching the edges of the footage to 4:3 format, so the center footage retains sharp definition, whilst the edges are usually overlooked due to the wide angled perspective of the lens.
