Description

The lining of the Brenner Pro Trousers is made from Hydratic, a wind- and water-proof fabric that is also highly breathable. This lining makes them ideal for use in cold and/or wet conditions, while still allowing body vapour to escape, keeping you at a comfortable temperature. For our customers undertaking rigorous treks which may feature climbing the Keb trouser is our go-to recommendation. The Keb is a technically advanced trekking trouser which optimizes freedom of movement whilst not compromising on protection and durability. Okay firstly they are not cheap, but then quality very rarely is, but Fjallraven kit does tend to last and stand up to hard work. Waterproofing is very good, but as others have said the liner can feel cool against your skin, long johns in cold wet weather would obviously be the answer here.

For the most accurate result, you should be measured wearing only your undergarments or close-fitting clothing, for example, a base layer. It’s not a good idea to measure yourself wearing jeans, sweaters or other bulky clothing. According to Fjallraven the Barents Pro Trousers have a regular waist and regular fit. But this is not how I would describe them. They are low-waisted and slim-fitting. I am not used to wearing slim fit trousers and I found these too tight about the hips and crotch. The trouser legs too are on the narrow side compared to my other hiking trousers, but they have articulated knees so they are not unduly restrictive. They come in raw length so you have to get them hemmed to suit you.

Where to Buy

After a wet week on Dartmoor, I began to think there must be some good waterproof trousers out on the market. The Keb features heavy-duty G-1000 eco on the rear, front of the legs, the knees and on the inside bottom of the legs, which is also reinforced with a double layer of fabric to withstand wear from hiking boots. These panels of G-1000 eco are connected by stretch fabric allowing your body full ease of movement. When combined with the optimised fit the Keb trousers are an absolute dream for those who find themselves being active outdoors. As you may have gathered by now there is no definite answer to the question “which Fjallraven trouser is the best?” Anyone attempting to sell you the “Best trouser Fjallraven make” shouldn’t be trusted! So is the Keb the best Fjallraven trouser? If you find yourself wanting a trouser with excellent freedom of movement but still wanting some protection from the elements and your surroundings then we can think of no better! However, if your needs differ then there are other Fjallraven trousers up to the task! Whether you favour comfort or durability there are many models to choose from that offer differing blends of the two. In summary, though expensive and heavier than some trekking trousers, the Fjallraven Barent Pro really delivers on quality and performance beyond just trekking, as long as it's in cooler weather.

Ask a friend to take your measurements while standing in a straight and relaxed position without shoes. Remember that the tape measure should not be pulled too tight around the body but not be too loose either. Fjällraven's G-1000® Silent material is a densely woven blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton, making it windproof and extremely hardwearing. This outer layer is windproof and also water-resistant, thanks to an impregnation of Greenland Wax. The brushed 'Silent' version of this material, as used here for the Brenner Pro Trousers, is ideal for hunters and other groups that need durable, functional garments that are also quiet. Founded in 1960 by Ake Nordin, Fjallravens mission statement from the very start has been the design of outdoor clothing and equipment that effortlessly blends style and function. The result has been 60 years of high-quality clothing that allows its wearers to enjoy the great outdoors in comfort and look good doing it. For those who want more information, I have uploaded a review of the Barents trousers which makes a detailed comparison between this model and the Barents Pro.

There is also a hook to secure your ski boot or hiking boot. A ventilation zip at the side is perfect for releasing heat when you’re making that final push uphill. The Kaipak is best seen as a good middle ground between comfort and durability. If you’re looking for lighter, trousers like the Abisko trekking trouser will definitely offer this. If you want heavier, then the aforementioned Vidda Pro will offer more protection. However, for a good marriage of the two, the Kaipak is our recommendation.
