The role involves responsibility for all the non-judicial functions of the Court and overseeing the administration of a team of approximately 50 staff and contractors supporting the work of the Justices. The Chief Executive is an Accounting Officer in their own right.

Personally, I loved it, as it prevented me from slouching, which is something I always find myself doing in most other chairs. That said, some may find the Supreme V3's lumbar support a little too unforgiving. Thankfully, the lumbar section has its own rotating bar controls which let you loosen its tension somewhat. ErgoTune Supreme V3 review: Verdict Lord Sales became a Queen's Counsel in 2006 and continued to act in the re-named post of First Treasury Counsel Common Law until his appointment to the High Court, Chancery Division in 2008. He was a member of the Competition Appeal Tribunal between 2008 and 2015, and Vice-President of the Investigatory Powers Tribunal between 2014 and 2015. Celia was appointed Registrar of the UK Supreme Court in April 2023. She job‐shares the role with Laura Angus.

From 2008 to 2012 a member of the Inner House of the Court of Session, and from 1998 to 2008 a member of the Outer House of the Court of Session, where he was the Principal Commercial Judge. Celia trained as a solicitor in Cambridge and moved to London firm Goodman Ray LLP upon qualification, where she practised family law for 7 years and became an accredited Children Panel specialist. She subsequently worked as a solicitor advocate for a joint Local Authority Children's Services legal team before joining the Civil Appeals Office in 2015 as a case lawyer. At the Court of Appeal Celia worked closely with supervising Lord and Lady Justices to manage permission to appeal applications and appeals, with a particular focus on family law and immigration. In 2018 Celia became a Senior Legal Manager in the Administrative Court, responsible for supervising a team of lawyers who assist High Court Judges to case manage Judicial Review applications, exercise powers delegated by the President of the King's Bench Division and monitor trends in litigation. Celia was appointed Registrar of the Supreme Court in April 2023, a role that she job-shares with Laura Angus. TheErgoTuneSupreme V3 feels very planted, both on carpet and hard floors. During this time she also acted as an RCJ Anti–Bullying and Harassment advisor. In early 2022 she undertook a secondment to the Registry of the Supreme Court as Deputy Interim Registrar, and she was appointed as Registrar of the Supreme Court in September 2022.

A mid-range chair with high-end ambitions

Robert John Reed, Lord Reed of Allermuir took up appointment as President of the Supreme Court on 13 January 2020, succeeding Lady Hale of Richmond. Upon this appointment, Lord Reed became a life peer. It offers a very solid, five-feet, wheeled base that feels fully planted (and yet very moveable) both on carpet and hard floors. This connects to the upper portion via a high-quality pneumatic stem. The V3 now comes with three options of this for different heights: Petite (140cm – 159cm), Standard (160cm – 179cm) and Tall (180cm – 210cm). When I was first sent the Supreme V3 for review, supply chain issues meant that I received the Tall stem later, by which time the default Standard stem was fully wedged and not coming out. Still, the standard stem suited my 189cm height just fine. The new Petite stem will suit shorter people who don’t like their legs dangling off the ground. With a plethora of adjustments to choose from and suitable for people of different heights, this chair scores well. Lord Stephens was educated at Manchester University. He was called to the Bar of Northern Ireland in 1977, the Bar of England and Wales in July 1978 and to the Bar of Ireland in 1996. Her overall responsibilities are exercising the judicial and administrative functions under the Rules and Practice Directions for the UK Supreme Court (UKSC) and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (JCPC). She is also responsible for the active management of all internal processes relating to appeals, costs and judgments for the UKSC and JCPC.

Sam was previously Deputy Director of Governance and Assurance for HM Courts and Tribunals Service where she led the creation of a joined up, transparent and consistent governance and assurance function supporting delivery of the work of the courts, tribunals and offices, as well as enhancing the strategic assurance for the Agency as a whole. Prior to that Sam was Board Secretary and Head of the Chief Executive's Office, again within HM Courts and Tribunals Service (2013 - 2016). This office chair, as reviewed, isn't the cheapest option, with more affordable models available. But none will match the features, comfort and support levels this one offers.

Biographies of the Justices

In addition, he is responsible for powering the Supreme Court Justices and colleagues and the digital ecosystem that connects the Supreme Court to people as a world-leading court. ErgoTune claims this is a chair to relax in – largely due to the recline mode – but this is where I struggled most. The recline feature was just too loose for my long, heavy body. However, this won’t be an issue for smaller, lighter people.
