Overall, it’s a really great and unique minifigure, and I can imagine that the double-arms will be a nice little addition for those that collect minifigures, and want to add a really interesting arm option into their collection. For the movie, a video by Rotoscopers from 2013 and early information regarding the movie's plot somewhat implies that Baymax was originally going to be built by Hiro only after Tadashi's death to fill his void, just like in the comics, before this was changed to Tadashi being his creator instead.

In the movie, Baymax is a healthcare robot created by a young inventor named Hiro Hamada. After his brother’s death, Hiro reprograms Baymax to become a superhero to help him and his friends save their city from a dangerous villain. Final Thoughts: For Disney fans, this is an incredibly solid series that I feel is on par with Disney Series 1. LEGO and Disney have gone through their entire 100-year archive for this series, which showcases amazing variety from different Disney eras, as well as introducing all-new characters that have never had the LEGO or minifigure treatment before. Martial Arts: Due to the fighting chip installed, Baymax can execute various fighting moves and actions. Other real-life robot inspirations for Baymax were Honda's ASIMO, RIBA-II caregiving robots and MIT's Media Lab's Boxie. [11] Trivia [ ] Dr Facilier is the witch doctor and villain of the Princess and the Frog, responsible for turning Tiana and Prince Naveen into frogs. And to complete the ensemble, we have the Evil Queen’s magical mirror, which has received a minifigure head transformation. It’s printed on a long oval shield, and looks utterly fantastic! How to find one: Feel for Patch, which is quite lumpy, and confirm with the D-shaped tile for her foxtail purse. Cruella also has an inner plastic bag, which should feel crinkly. Not keen on the modern ones. Was Coco and Big Hero 6 even that popular?? Same with Princess & the Frog, I haven't heard anyone mention that since it came out." The leader of the band of rogues is Robin Hood, who is a cunning red fox with incredible archery skills, and LEGO have made great use of a new moulded head to bring Robin Hood to life. His trademark green garb is printed really nicely across his body, and I also like his green shoes on his feet. Her crown in particular is a new accessory and ties the entire minifigure together. As an interesting bonus, you get two of them which was a nice and unexpected surprise!

Mulan is dressed in her blue outfit, with a pink sash across her vest, and the Emperor’s medallion, suggesting that this minifigure is placed during her triumphant return home, or when she’s presented the medallion for her heroic escapades. The thematic groups are also really welcome, such as Disney Princesses, iconic villains, and homages to Pixar and Disney’s modern animated era making this collection feel mostly well-planned and curated. The good news is that there are 2 complete sets in each box of Disney 100 Minifigures, which is great news for those that want to split a box with a friend, or guarantee a complete set. Queen of Hearts 71038-7 has an odd expression, I hope it is dual-faced with a more angry expression, and although the heart-shaped scepter is fine, I'd have preferred her to come with a flamingo. This four-armed variant of Stitch is one of the more unique LEGO minifigures in this series with the awesome twin-arm piece, which makes a return after having only shown up once with the Rio Durant minifigure from LEGO Star Wars.LEGO has released a variety of Pixar sets, although certain films have been overlooked. Coco is a prime example, but has inspired two minifigures in this series, the first of whom is Ernesto de la Cruz. The famed musician is richly dressed in white, with intricate metallic silver patterns around the brim of his hat, continuing onto his torso, arms and legs. Whereas the previous Collectable Minifigure included only two arms, this version features four! These unusual arms were designed for Rio Durant in 75219 Imperial AT-Hauler, but are equally suited to Stitch. However, the character wields two yellow plasma blasters, instead of his normal armament of four. This accessory was introduced in 8683 Collectable Minifigures Series 1, but has not appeared in yellow before. LEGO have absolutely killed it with Ernesto de la Cruz’s minifigure design, and to me, this is one of the standout minifigures from the Disney 100 minifigures series, and one of the finest LEGO Disney minifigures ever designed by LEGO. For accessories, Pinochhio comes with Cleo, Geppetto’s goldfish which is printed on a trans-clear minifigure head. Where possible, we used smooth white pieces to cover the exposed studs. It seemed to make Baymax look more like the movie.

How to find one: Try feeling for Stitch’s head, which is large and bulbous, with the two large flat ears attached to it.The final Disney Princess in this series has been a long-time coming, with Pocahontas finally making her LEGO debut! Surprisingly, we get her as a minifigure first instead of a minidoll ( a minidolll Pocahontas is coming later this year), but no complaints here! Here’s a closer look at Ernesto’s alternate face, which has just the right amount of a sinister smile, to tie it all together. You can also see the hair fused into the white sombrero which looks great too. Baymax attracted particular attention when these Collectable Minifigures were revealed, not necessarily for the right reasons. This famously chubby robot from Big Hero 6 does not seem entirely appropriate for a conventional minifigure, despite using specialised arms to recreate his inflatable body. These are only partially successful, in my opinion. Baymax is one of the main characters in the eponymous Baymax manga by Haruki Ueno, set in a standalone universe separate from the film. Although his personality is largely unchanged and his appearance is identical to the main counterpart, the story is different, as he is created by Tadashi specifically for the SFIT showcase held by Dr. Callaghan. He is created not only to help people, but Tadashi also kept Hiro in mind while building him, to impress Hiro (who was also competing in the showcase), and to help the boy with his anti-social behavior.
