In the unrated cut, by contrast, Kevin Bacon's and Robbi Morgan's death scenes run long enough that I can see the change in skin tone that masks the join where the prosthetics meets the real skin. Although its all-too-familiar formula has largely lost its effectiveness with modern audiences, Sean S. are candid and honest with their memories and opinions, so it's not a series of shallow "we had such a great time" stories.

The reason is, like you mentioned, the gore scenes run too long in the unrated cut, and it's much more obvious you are seeing Tom Savini's special effects (which are great, of course). That eighth sequel is the 91-minute "Director's Cut," making it four minutes longer, while part one remains a brisk 95-minute flick. This year marks four decades since we first heard the “ ki-ki-ki-ma-ma-ma” sounds in Camp Crystal Lake. A cemetery fills much of the bottom left and lightning can be see striking his recently opened grave. In the film, a group of friends are gathering at a cabin in the woods for a fun weekend by the lake when a young man who is looking for his missing sister comes knocking on the door. I know they sent me one replacement disc without me even asking for it, but I think that was part 3.

For more about Friday the 13th and the Friday the 13th Blu-ray release, see Friday the 13th Blu-ray Review published by Martin Liebman on August 20, 2021 where this Blu-ray release scored 3. Four years would go by before Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday would surface from director Adam Marcus and New Line Cinema. The only one that could have been re-added was Jeff and Sandra but even that one I argue that sometimes there's more impact when you're left to imagine what happened over visually seeing it play out. Picking up moments after the sequel, Friday the 13th Part 3: 3D is where the series begins to drop the ball and the formula incorporates familiar genre tropes. You also get a recounting of how the series emerged from the American grindhouse circuit of marginal cinema, and unexpectedly broke into the mainstream (playing multiplexes, etc. Similarly to Friday the 13th, the films in that franchise were spread across different studios, so that was also a miracle. Part 3 may be the weakest of the four in standard 2D, but with it finally receiving a proper 3D conversion, the brand-new 1080p/MVC MPEG-4 encode actually looks great and far superior to the previous anaglyph 3D versions, which should come as no surprise. Young Tommy Jarvis may have escaped from Crystal Lake, but he’s still haunted by his nemesis, the maniacal serial killer Jason Voorhees.
