I will say that I wish that sort of depth had been given to their kids as they come to terms with their father’s choice, but that didn’t detract from the joy of this book. There are excellent transport links with Chalk Farm Station (Northern Line) approximately 0.3 miles away and Swiss Cottage Station (Jubilee Line) approximately 1.1 miles away. There are also multiple bus routes in and out of London within easy reach.

Alternating between the different neighbors of the little square, we come to learn some of their secrets, new loves and new friends through 18,19 and 24 Primrose square. Claudia Carroll is a fiction and romance author from Dublin Ireland that is best known for the “Primrose Square” series of novels. She has lived in Dublin where she spent much of her time working as a TV actress and in theatre before she decided to become a full-time author. For more than a dozen years, she starred in Ireland’s answer to “Eastenders” that was named “Fair City.” She loves to describe her character on the show as a terrible old cow that was hated by everyone. Carroll wrote her debut novel “He Loves Me Not, He Loves Me”in 2004. The novel would get much critical acclaim when it was published and went on to become a bestselling title. “Remind Me Again Why I Need A Man” the third novel that she published was also a very popular work that would later be optioned and is to be made into a TV series on Fox TV. Her fourth novel has also been optioned and is about to be made into a screenplay by Robin Swicord, an Academy Award nominee. la pace e la collaborazione tra vicini regna sovrana, se non fosse che ognuno di loro ha un segreto da custodire e che vorrebbe rimanesse tale. The floor above is the principal entertaining floor and comprises a kitchen/dining room and a beautiful light-filled reception room and library area. On the floor above, there are two bedrooms and a bathroom, along with a principal suite which occupies the entire top floor and has access to a private balcony. You’re going to find Melissa tugging at your heart strings, both because of the situation in which she finds herself and the way she responds to it. You’re going to wish you had a neighbour just like Jayne and that when you get to her age you have the courage to do what she does. You’re also going to sympathise with her intensely once you meet her son, Jason, and daughter-in-law, Irene. You’re going to hope you or anyone close to you never has to go through what Susan is going through. You’re going to make some assumptions about some of the other characters that will probably turn out to be wrong. Most of all, by the end of the book, you’re more than likely going to feel like you know Primrose Square as if you lived there yourself.

I’m not going to say the decision Frank made on his birthday, but I will say it breaks his family apart. It’s probably not what you think though. The story isn’t only set in Primrose Square. I loved everything about the theatre scenes, quite a juxtaposition to the poignancy at the Wellness Centre. The secondary characters in both these settings are fabulous and give solace and companionship as well as light-hearted moments. Frank moves in with the elderly Violet ‘Violent’ Hardcastle. Violet has not left her house in decades and due to circumstances, needs a tenant. Initially, she was a difficult character to like. Violet had a haughty, irritable personality with little compassion for those who were different to her. I was surprised that she agreed to Frank moving in with her and it proves to be a true test of character. As I got to know Violet over the course of her journey, I came to see that life had shaped Violet into the woman she was so the growth she made was a pleasure to witness. I found it so easy to identify with our four main female characters, despite their different stages in life and different circumstances. Susan with her grief and the healing journey she takes; Nancy and her money grabbing family; Jayne who’s on the run from something she doesn’t want to deal with and my favourite character, Melissa (Susan’s daughter). Not only identify but that all important emotional connection I need to feel was there from the beginning. Then there’s her daughter Melissa, fourteen years of age and desperately trying to keep up some semblance of normality at home. But with her mother acting like a crazy lady and the bitchiness of the bullies in school, what chance has she? You can see why the blurb put me off. As did the lilac cover with a squirly font. Put that behind you, and have some solid holiday reading.

The information on housing, people, culture, employment and education that is displayed about Primrose Square, Houghton Regis, Dunstable, LU5 6SA is based on the last census performed in the UK in 2021. I find it difficult to explain about the story line as I don't want to spoil the story for someone else but I will say that the widow in the story was a source of amusement as she tries to explain to her son and her dead husband's ashes how and why she has a new man in her life that she has met on the internet. I’ve got news,’ she tells her son Jason and his awful wife, over a family dinner. ‘Big news.’ She’s all excited and hopes they’ll be happy for her. They’re not though. Jayne drops the bombshell and the ensuing row can be heard from the far side of the Square. But she holds firm. Because you’re never too old to start really living, now are you? With Claudia Carroll's last book Our Little Secret, I felt her writing was venturing in a new direction and I loved it. It was vastly different from her earlier novels, every one of which I thoroughly enjoyed, and I think she is continuing this move with her new book The Secrets of Primrose Square. The colourful cover is inviting and makes you eager to venture to a unique little corner of Dublin. You may think upon first judgement of both the cover and title that this book will be all lightness and just nothing but good things will happen for the all the characters but that is not the case. From the opening chapter it's clear that although Primrose Square may be idyllic and yes it does offer comfort and solace and a sense of community and friendship to those that live there all is not as it seems. As for Ben and Amber the words anger yet innocence spring to mind. The scene between the pair as they enjoy a movie night was one of the best I have read in a book in a long long time. Such a simple explanation if only the entire world could view things the way Amber does – uncomplicated with no strings attached and just letting things be the way they are with no need for change. To many Frank may seem staid, boring and unpredictable but he was a character with such depth and layers who as with the others showed normal and predictable don't exist. Before he knows it Frank finds himself inhabiting one of Violet Hardcastle's rooms and through his own circumstances he can perhaps set about changing the fortunes of a woman who has not left her house in years. Right next door is Jayne, sixty-something years young, Pollyanna-positive and determined to squeeze every last drop of enjoyment out of life. Normally she takes a kind, almost grandmotherly care of young Melissa, but as the play opens, she has other matters on her mind. I didn’t expect to adore this The Women of Primrose Square as much as I did, and while it is not without flaws, this is a feel-good, tearing up on the bus 5-star read. The Woman Of Primrose Square is Irish author Claudia Carroll’s sequel to The Secrets Of Primrose Square. It has been languishing of my bookshelf for the last two years and I decided to listen to it on audible instead. Aoife McMahon is the narrator, and she had a pleasant voice. However, I struggled with the character voices McMahon employed. Being ridiculously deep, the voices used for the different males were too similar while the children’s voices were annoyingly squeaky. Being a fan of Carroll helped me get through the difficulties I had to enjoy a storyline that dealt with contemporary issues. From transgender to alcoholism to the Mary Magdalene Laundry, the topics were dealt with sensitively yet realistically.

New neighbour Nancy dreams of being an actress and living in Primrose Square. Being an unknown actress doesn’t pay the bills, yet fate leads her to house sitting in this prestigious square. Friendships blossom between the ladies in the square, leading Nancy to taking Melissa under her wing, providing a role model for the young girl. Is it all to be good to be true for Nancy? It’s a wonderful character exploration of someone who realises they actually can be better than they think. Set in Dublin in a set of houses called Primrose Square...with a set of neighbors with extremely interesting lives. His friends are all busy; his wife and children have other plans. After years of being 'Mr Cellophane', he decides, finally, to do something for himself. But when he gets home to a surprise birthday party, it is his guests who get the real surprise. We come to know about Melissa and the trouble she is going through with her mother and the death of her older sister. We follow through mom's trouble of being able to cope and deal with her daughter's death, left with unanswered questions, she takes a few wrong turns in life. Further benefits include a guest cloakroom, underfloor heating throughout, a water filtration system, electronic smart controls, Sonos audio systems, air conditioning in the principal bedroom, and ample vault storage. The end of the first chapter had me still gasping a couple of hours later! This book goes for the big punch straight away and makes you want to keep reading. There’s plenty of intrigue that kept me curious and wanting to know more. I do enjoy a story that shares a little information and gets you thinking about possibilities. A couple of things I was sure about in fact I was wrong about! A reminder that things are not always as they seem on the surface … Our main aim is to deliver education; giving people space to learn, develop and grow to have a better understanding of mental health.
