Far From Saints will make their live debut later this month with a newly-announced warm-up show at London’s Oslo ahead of Roger Daltrey’s Teenage Cancer Trust gala at the Royal Albert Hall on March 26 th. One of the more up-tempo rock numbers on the album is “The Ride”, which again seeks to uplift, with lines such as, “You’ve got another thing coming if you think you’re running out of time. These generally double-tracked pieces are meditative, often tender ballads, their vibe exemplified by the gently ascending chords of his opener, The Waves Are Not the Sea, the unhurried deliberations of From the Mountains or the gentle rise and fall of Clouds Can’t Change the Sky. Jack Penate delivers one of the strongest guest vocals, floating gracefully over the hands-in-the-air celebration of No Time. The reflective “Gonna Find What’s Killing Me” proves uplifting, with Jones and Lynn again declaring, “I’m still alive”.

On Gonna Find What’s Killing Me, Jones then takes centre stage for a stripped-back, acoustic-led track that comes fully alive when the pair join to make something hauntingly beautiful. Isata Kanneh-Mason, the senior member of Nottingham’s famous musical family, plays to her strengths on her latest album, Childhood Tales.

The three of us just sat in front of mics, me with an acoustic and we tracked every song one or two takes" says Baker. Although they had first toured together in 2013, it was 2019 when the musical magnetism between the three musicians became too strong to ignore as The Wind and The Wave supported Kelly during his solo tour. The monthly XS Noize playlists on Spotify bring together the most essential new music of the last month that has been featured on the site. The trio began the journey to their first record together back in 2019 when they performed a cover of Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty’s “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” on Kelly Jones’ tour of the UK, during which Lynn and Baker were the openers for each night.
