Description

There are many products on the market to repel cats and help to keep cats out of the yard. For instance, citronella is great to use, as it’s not only safe but also works at repelling other animals too. However, you can make cat repellent at home as well. Home remedies include citrus peels, cayenne, Chile powder, rubbing raw onions on an area, and vinegar. No matter how much you dislike it, cats only foul in other people's gardens because it's their natural instinct. Once cats move on from litter trays and move outside, they will find any place that's suitable to take their toilet. Cats are naturally made for the outside. Where hunting, scarpering and wandering the area is a daily activity for cats, it's no surprise that they will also find places to go to the toilet too.

Contrary to what most people think, homeowners actually owe a duty of care to trespassers to ensure they do not come to any harm, which means if there is a hazard on your property you might reasonably be expected to offer some protection. And you mustn't lay traps to put off trespassers or you could be liable for a claim for compensation. A third of survey respondents would prefer not to have grey squirrels in their gardens, mainly because they eat food left out for other wildlife. They're also inclined to dig up bulbs, and nibble on sweetcorn, apples, pears, strawberries and sunflower seedheads. They can also strip bark off trees.

Keeping your cat safe outside

It is an effective repellent because it confuses the sense of smell of the fox and causes it to be distracted from entering your garden. How to stop cats pooping in your garden is an ethical dilemma, as the product must be humane. Training cats to poop outside is one of the best ways to avoid using a litter tray; however, sometimes, it can mean bad business even if you are following all the lawn care tips. If you have surrounding neighbours with cats that love to explore or have cats of your own, you may find that they start to use your plants and bushes as their own personal litter tray. Nobody likes that. To do this, however, you will need to show that your neighbour's hedge is comprised of two or more evergreens that are more than two metres high without significant gaps between the trees or shrubs forming the hedge. You may have to persistently wash the same spot, sometimes every day for a fortnight, but usually the fox eventually gets the idea and stops fouling in the area. Commercial deterrents Most people protect their homes and gardens by building a fence, for which you won't normally need planning permission unless it is more than two metres high.

For adult trespassers, in most cases the duty of care will be met if you put up a fence and display a notice warning of the danger. But children might not be able to read and understand the notice, so if you know they trespass on your land you shouldn't, for example, leave sharp tools or toxic weed killer lying around. If the children play with these things and hurt themselves you might have to pay compensation for their injuries. Grey squirrels have gradually spread across the UK since they were introduced from North America in the late 19th century. They are now the dominant species across almost all of England and Wales, parts of Scotland and much of Ireland.Citronella oil is gleaned from various species of lemongrass and has long been used to repel mosquitoes. While there are many repellents on the market aimed at keeping these animals at bay, there are no sure-fire results, as each cat responds to repellents differently. Let’s look at how to keep cats out of the yard and how to keep cats out of my garden soil. How to Keep Cats Out of My Garden Soil

There’s a certain part of my garden – a small flower patch – that seems to be a hotspot for the local wildlife. Everything from my own cats to the neighbours dogs and wild rabbits find shelter there. Perhaps it’s the vast selection of rare flowers that I’ve maintained over the past decade. Tidy away things likeold gardening gloves and shoes, whichcan smell very interesting to foxes. Use concrete bases for sheds and garages

Pros

Citronella is generally regarded as a ‘natural’ repellent because it is plant based and has been praised as it has little or no toxicity. If someone trespasses on your property despite due warning the practical remedy is to ask them to leave. If they don't you are entitled to use no more than reasonable force to eject the trespasser.

Sound-motion detectors: These detectors will spot any movement and let out a high-pitched sound inaudible to humans to deter any kitties. They're slightly smaller than the sprinklers so may be a better option if you want something unnoticeable.

Cats have a great sense of smell and they particularly dislike scents that involve citrus, lavender, peppermint and cinnamon so the more of these scents you can use, the better. As well as this, registered UK charity, The Fox Project, has conducted many tests on fox repellent products and praised Get Off My Garden for its effectiveness in deterring foxes whilst also being very safe without any nasty side effects to animals.
