Although that sole queen cell is on the bottom of the frame, I believe it is a supercedure cell because: there are no other queen cells whatsoever and other evidence indicates a poor/absent queen. If you enjoy the heavy male cast (but she only ends up with one person) in things such as Meteor Garden, the cozy fantasy vibes of That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon, but need that sprinkle of Beauty and the Beast this book is for you! the ultimate goal of anyone who confronts a hive that is becoming honey bound is to prevent the brood nest from becoming back filled (imho. That being said, I feel that if the scenes and dialogue were flushed out more, this book would easily be a very cozy, feel-good tale of 4 or 5 stars.

When I see it in my hives they always end up swarming, which is my fault for not knowing how to prevent it yet. I took every single frame out of the first deep and discovered three things: they have completed a supercedure/swarm queen cell that is capped and awaiting hatch, located at the bottom of one of the frames. How many beekeepers reading this post have NEVER experienced a supercedure queen cell below the mid-point of a frame OR seen a swarm-ready hive left to the fate of only one queen cell? This gentle approach to storytelling creates a unique space for readers to rejuvenate their literary sensibilities.

While the absence of intense adventure might surprise some, "Bound By Honey" masterfully fills the niche it aims to occupy. Suppose I correct the problem by adding an empty super, but I separate it by a queen excluder (because I want to harvest the honey from that super later on). Lo and behold when the upper was beginning to be drawn, they opened up the lower box as I had hoped! Staying aware of the amount of pollen or honey inside your brood boxes is an important part of preventing honey- or pollen-bound hives and swarms. One thing I thought was to swap BBs with another hive and the try to distribute the honey nectar frames. The capped cell is at the bottom of a frame, which is what made me think swarm, but there is only one, there were a few others that either were never used or have been destroyed…or hatched if the queen I see is infact a virgin queen, but I don’t think I could have missed that whole process.
