Description

The basic moral is to take opportunities, don't be afraid of the unknown, if you don't try something you'll never know what is around the corner. Also that old-age is no excuse for not having fun, and we're all beautiful no matter what our differences. He flies to Dublin at noon on January 25th YEAR 5 and the story covers the first week at Ballytatty January 27th - February 3rd It continues throughout the following week with Russ agreeing on the Friday to fly to LA a week today (ie the following Friday) EDITION 2: It's amazing how these women pay their dues! Russ Tobin's got a new job - collecting debts for Karefree Kredit Inkorporated. He's the man who can get Joanne (29, widowed two years) to pay her debt ten times over - and how! Then he meets Tony Dane, the king of the swingers, and becomes just a face in the crowd - a crowd of strippers, that is. Where will it all end? It won't, not by a long chalk! He finished in Nairobi on November 28th of YEAR 4, spending two days in London before departing for the Bahamas

A friend of ours, let's call him...Paul, told us a lovely and touching story about how he stumbled across a copy of The Debt Collector when he was a young pimply-faced teenager. Paul took great comfort in the teachings of Tobin, until one day his dad discovered it secreted under the mattress. Much embarassment ensued but the happy outcome was that Paul's dad read it too - thoroughly enjoying it - and father and son bonded in a way that neither of them will forget. Aaaaah! Tobin is in Twinkle City at last, heading out in his hired car for a plush house on Santa Monica Beach and two slinky air-hostesses who will provide the last word in hospitality and go to any lengths to entertain him. He's going to swim and surf, hang around the movie lots and just wait for someone to uncover his talent, and with Tobin that won't take more than five minutes.

My Book Notes

It's a matter of public record that at the time of the book's publication Stan himself was working in a Retirement Home on the south coast (not Brighton), but ended up being dismissed when the company owners read the book and claimed that he brought their good name into disrepute (there is a subplot where Russ wonders if the complex is owned by a shady mafia-like corporation!) However, they found themselves on dodgy ground as a) the book has the usual disclaimer in the front about any resemblance to real people being coincidental b) their actual company name was not mentioned in the book and c) Stan had copies of original draft manuscripts that pre-dated him ever even working there! Then Matt, who's affable, rich and well-connected, invites Tobin to an incredible weekend party in his luxurious mansion on Santa Catalina Island - and Russ begins to make a few connections of his own. It turns out to be the most demanding forty-eight hours of Tobin's life so far. Drawing In Metric (1969) – Central Office of Information film for architects changing over to metric units within the construction industry. But for newcomers, Los Angeles is not just a city of tinsel dreams, but also a city of mystery - if Russ doesn't find the right exit from the freeway system soon, he may never reach the beach or the amorous air-hostesses at all... I should also add that in amongst all this, Stan chose to insert another scene setting Russ down amongst the gay community, which seemed to serve very little purpose other than to allow Russ to express quite how much he very definitely was NOT GAY. The characterisation was as cliched as you'd expect for a book written in 1970 but at least Russ described the experience as "edifying".

Tobin In Trouble starts in Miami on December 20th YEAR 4, proceeds to New York for 2 days and ends on the night of December 23rd in CanadaWhilst between acting jobs in the late 1960s, Morgan began to write seriously and his first novel The Sewing Machine Man was published in 1968. Allegedly autobiographical, the novel revolved around the character Russ Tobin and Morgan went on to write a further 18 novels in the series. The latest of the Russ Tobin novels was published in 2005 after Morgan came out of retirement, mainly due to renewed interest in his work via the internet. [1] Mullardability (1969) – A Mullard film showing their wide range of products in the field of electronics

Tobin For Hire starts in Toronto on Christmas Eve of YEAR 4 and ends on December 30th with Russ & Buzz aboard a plane flying to Australia via Tahiti

For a more detailed timeline breakdown see here Tobin On Safari Starts with Russ arriving in Nairobi on November 28th of YEAR 3 and the book covers the the first few weeks of the Safari job Tobin Down Under starts with Russ arriving in Australia on January 10th of YEAR 5 at around mid-afternoon The Debt Collector starts in early June of YEAR 2 - four weeks into his new job at Karefree Kredit Inkorporated That Debt-Collecting is a tough job for someone who has a heart of gold and an eye for the ladies. And also that when an opportunity arises - you should take it and worry about the consequences later. Life is what you make it and it is a fool who chooses to stand still when there is a whole world to be discovered.
