All we know is the author goes by the pseudonym Elly Conway (the same name as Howard’s character; Vaughn’s film is a meta take on the novel), she was born and raised in New York, she wrote her first book while she was waitressing at a late-night diner, and she is working on more in the Argylle universe. His parents and their lifestyle gave Aubrey some skills, which enable him to help rescue several kidnapped U. Argylle in a nutshell is a political spy novel and a high stakes mission to recover an invaluable missing artifact, the 8th Wonder of the World, The Amber Room. Something’s fishy,” an anonymous Hollywood producer who has worked with Vaughn told the New York Post in January.

Argylle is released in cinemas on February 2nd, so conspiracy theorists will have to wait and see whether or not anything more concrete about the mysterious Elly Conway is revealed. The movie does look like it's going to be fun though (and comes out in Feb) but frankly this book just isn't very good. That huge figure sparked speculation that the author might actually be someone very high profile, using a different name. This isn't my personal preference for books and it takes a truly exceptional read for me to sink in and move past this. According to Conway’s two-line bio, she “lives in the United States and is currently working on the next installment in the series. As for Argylle the story, any author who can weave together a plot involving Nazis, the Amber Room, the Golden Triangle, Fontainebleau palace, Paris, Mt. When Aidan, an undercover spy, shows up to save her from being kidnapped or killed, Elly and her beloved cat Alfie are plunged into a covert world where nothing and no one are what they seem, including to the discovery that Agent Argylle, in fact, exists for real. In a meta twist, the Argylle trailer confirmed that Conway is the in-universe author of the book as well.

On board are Russian presidential candidate Vasily Federov, on the election trail, and his wife Irina: “it would be hard to imagine two people sharing so confined a space in a more separate manner. A conspiracy theory bloomed from there: Taylor is Elly, Elly is Taylor, a pile of evidence accumulating across Reddit and TikTok.In the acknowledgments for Argylle, Conway thanks Robert Massey, a British astronomer who she says explained star charts to her. Jackson appearing alongside Howard — featured a Scottish fold in a backpack, an image that is essential to Swiftian iconography. Fairly sure it's just a marketing tactic for the movie, being 'written' by one of the characters and all. The whole thing was so convincing that readers regularly walk away convinced that there is an unabridged Princess Bride out there, and that they can find it if they only work hard enough.

I am aware of the speculations surrounding the book, I don't think Taylor Swift is Elly Conway (as Elly is fictional and not a real person). To me, only someone/something really special and great would have that kind of notoriety before public release.

In a recent interview on The Graham Norton Show, Howard acknowledged the similarities between her character and Swift, at the same time denying Swift was in any way connected with the film. Argylle's cast and crew tease the true identity of author Elly Conway, though most are very dedicated to preserving the mystery. The pace was slightly off for me, beginning half I found it was slow, and the latter half crammed in a lot!
