Description

We learn that even the smallest of oversights now, can sometimes count in the larger scheme of things, enabling the possibility of a later action which can have equally profound effects. The Letter is a historical romance story of love found and lost. Although the story is nothing new, the way it is told makes it outstanding. We see how the two women learn to cope with the challenges that life throws their way. Some of the decisions are at times wrong, but it is admirable that they keep on pushing. The first storyline unravels just before WWII, and the author paints a perfect picture of the happenings during this period. If you are looking for an easy read with great characters, a solid plot, and a captivating storyline, this novel is ideal. If you can somewhat suspend belief and read this at face value, it is quite a clever and satisfying read. Jenny is a first-person narrator who speaks directly to the reader. How authentic did you feel her voice was?

The Letter by Kathryn Hughes | Goodreads

How does Kathryn Hughes depict what life was like in 1970s England, including the cultural attitudes. Which scenes stood out in your mind? An eloquent tale which flutters heart at unexpected moments. A simple five sentenced letter can change entire lives of people linked around it.Even though this subject is often predictable with its indiscriminate apportioning of pain and heartache...still each story has its own unique experiences...this is one such story. THE LETTER tells the story of two women, born decades apart, whose paths are destined to cross and how one woman's devastation leads to the other's salvation. Hope rises from despair and new beginnings are forged in the most extraordinary and unexpected way. Kathryn Hughes delves deeply into the heart and soul of her characters, making them totally relatable...like friends you really care for. My addiction to this novel was total and uncompromising *****' Am iubit-o pe Chrissie pentru felul în care a iubit un om despre care știa că a părăsit-o în momentele sale cele mai grele. When Chrissie tells Billy she is pregnant he is overwhelmed due to the war, and the economy and unsure about their financial future. He leaves; however, later that evening, he begins to regret his harsh words and writes a letter to Chrissie. 4th September 1939. One of love. He declares his love and asks for her hand in marriage. When he stops by her house the next day the father informs him, she does not wish to see him. (Of course, she is unaware of any of this).

The Kathryn Hughes Collection: THE LETTER, THE SECRET and THE

Tara Richards was just a girl when she lost her mother. Years later when Tara receives a letter from a London solicitor its contents shake her to the core. Someone has left her a key to a safe deposit box. In the box lies an object that will change everything Tara thought she knew and lead her on a journey to deepest Spain in search of the answers that have haunted her for forty years. The Letter by Kathryn Hughes is both beautifully written and incredibly poignant. You cannot fail to fall for this story. There is so much emotion written into the story that it carries you along and you just want to see a happy ending. So is there a happy ending. You will discover for yourself in a book that I am delighted to highly recommend. It's not a fluffy read, it's a story about two women, a generation apart, who's struggles have a lot in common, and how time and circumstance will conspire to bridge the gap between them to uncover their stories and bring some much overdue healing. How well do you feel the author depicted the horrors of the war in Italy and the treatment of Italians living in Britain at that time? THE LETTER tells the story of two women, born decades apart, whose paths are destined to cross and how one woman’s devastation leads to the other’s salvation. Jenny has a difficult choice to make between Lorcan and Nico. How do you feel about the choice she made? Did you lose any sympathy for her at this point?

The Letter: The most heartwrenching love story and World War The Letter: The most heartwrenching love story and World War

Storytelling at its finest with characters that come alive and a plot that dances with intrigue. An absolutely first-class read that does not disappoint' Prima Tina gyvena nesaldų gyvenimą. He gives her the money, and she offers it to her husband and keeps the part she had saved, and moves out. She is finally happy. The race, March 31, 1973 Grand National horse racing, sealed her fate. Kathryn Hughes - Book Series In Order Kathryn Hughes - Book Series In Order

Hughes and Atkins are in perfect sync! Hughes writing is amazing, and the way she created both storylines with pitch perfect pacing, and fabulous character development. Please, let this be the narrator for the next book. While in Costco, I finished the book, and re-listened to the last four chapters on the way home once again. It is that powerful; highly recommend the audio version. For readers who enjoy historical fiction and a suspenseful love story, recommend, The Particular Appeal of Gillian Pugsley by Susan Ornbratt.Candice seems very naive. Can you understand why she craved her happy ending with Beau? Did you ever feel frustrated with her character? I loved the characters and even felt sorry for a couple of the unlikeable ones towards the end. I think Tina, Chrissie and Billy especially will stay with me for quite a while yet. How did you feel about the ending? Would you like to find out what happens to Candice, her relationship with Beau and her business? What do you consider to be the major themes of The Secret and how are they explored? Which theme stood out particularly strongly?
