Description

We've been using a full production version of this 120 fps sports camera, to see what you gain (and, perhaps, lose). Another alternative is the above-mentioned Olympus 30mm Macro, which I have used for a long time and I have very good experience with. My old, porous brain was having a difficult time trying to remember all those combinations and the corresponding results obtained. The only camera I use for macro photography is the E-M1X as I find the articulating screen, double gripped format, and computational photography technologies are ideal for my style of shooting. Please, remove this con item, because it does not make any sense, and gives the wrong impression what users really want and need.

The overall compactness of Micro Four Thirds formats makes macro photography a steady and comfortable experience. Read Next: 7Artisans Macro Review (just as an FYI some of the images will look similar to the ones in this article — it’s because I did a side-by-side comparison test with the same subjects.A Focus Limit Switch can also be used to better facilitate working at close or distant range by constraining the focusing mechanism for faster, more precise AF. However, before concluding anything like that, you should try shooting a brightly lit stationary subject at f/5. I may have to get 5cms or so closer with the shorter lens but that makes the whole thing an even more intimate affair. A macro lens is a lens that can reproduce a subject at life-size on the sensor, or very close to it.

The Olympus 60mm macro is a versatile lens designed to provide a true 1:1 life size image, and equally great for portrait photography or situations requiring a high quality short telephoto (120mm equivalent on a 2x crop MFT sensor). macro can be very deceiving given its diminutive size… but it is an incredibly powerful macro tool that I love to have in my camera bag.

Despite my copy looking banged up, over the years I have not noticed any deterioration in its actual performance – neither sharpness nor its autofocusing ability.

Personally, I use a lens hood to support my lighting gear like my diffuser, even though it cuts down on my working distance.A 46mm filter thread is supplied, which does not rotate during focusing and the lens does not extend.

If my review thus far has not demonstrated my enthusiasm clearly, I’ll make it extra clear: this lens is an incredible macro lens for Micro Four Thirds. Not only is the 60mm sharper and weathersealed, it’s several hundred dollars less expensive to boot. I find it much easier to find focus by gently moving my camera in and out until I see my desired focus on the LCD or in the EVF. I experimented with close-up photography with my Nikon 1 kit… using the wonderful 1 Nikkor 30-110 mm f/3. If we have the ability to keep the ISO values at the base value by increasing the light for a full frame, then diffraction is relevant.
