Almost at Weghill Road now and here’s a pic of a fingerpost buried in the hedgerow pointing in a direction I did not come from: Karen Inglis' 'The Secret Lake' is the an excellent adventure story for young readers. Siblings Stella and Tom live in a London flat with a shared garden. The garden is looked after by Charles, a stern man who often tells Tom off for digging. One day, whilst hiding from Charles, Stella and Tom come across an old boat buried in the soil and a mysterious ladder, leading deep into a dark hole. From then on, the two embark on an exciting quest which leads them to a secret lake in a time much different from their own. Stella and Tom must not only solve the mysteries they discover, but also save the friends they make along the way and, ultimately, try and find their way home. So is Secret Lake a Lake or a Pond? I’m still not sure but when I searched pond vs. lake and found this helpful: “If the water is deep enough that light does not penetrate to the bottom, and photosynthesis is limited to the top layer, the body of water is considered a lake.” For more information… I skirted round the edge of a little boggy pond area. Does anyone know what these little purple flowers are?:

This grainy snap is taken from a short vid I took. It was probably 20ft away from me. We just looked at each other then carried on our separate ways. No spooking, nothing. Lovely. Turns out I was right this time and just a short hop, skip and a jump beyond that, you crest a hill and there it is: High and exposed, the reservoir is often wild and windy, sometimes tranquil, and occasionally a baking sun trap. But whatever the conditions, it usually manages to reward those who make the hike to the top of the moor – not a long hike but sufficient to ensure the place is never crowded.

So what is the difference between a marsh and a swamp? I found this blog interesting and helpful. After the Rain There were a couple of people sat on the log when I first arrived so I carried on a little way to the next view point: When Stella and her younger brother, Tom, move to their new London home, they become mystified by the disappearances of Harry, their elderly neighbour’s small dog. Where does he go? And why does he keep reappearing wet-through? The larger Scottish-themed town of Maclean is a short (free) ferry trip over the Clarence River and well worth a visit. I rented the 3bed room 2 bath for a weekend getaway with the family we loved it! Very spacious and clean. The area is close to many stores and restaurants. The only downside was the kiddie pool area. I don’t know what material was used to surface it but I skinned my knee and my poor son had scrapes on his hand. ” simplyjay1989 Beautiful
