Optimus Prime is now decoed in white, dark gray and red, with a Ghostbusters "no ghosts" logo on his right shoulder in addition to the Autobot logo on his left. The trailer is decoed similarly, with Ecto-1 style details adorning the sides, as well as green ghost splatter. Optimus's vehicle mode bumper includes an "ECTO-35" plate, which can be seen through his chest in robot mode, referencing the 35th Anniversary of both the Transformers and Ghostbusters franchises. Following an Decepticon assault led by Galvatron, Ultra Magnus, alongside Rodimus Prime, Arcee, and Spike were forced into taking cover within the Autobot Mausoleum. This did little to improve their situation, however, as the Decepticons continued their advance. Unexpectedly, Optimus Prime rose from his tomb, providing hope that the tide may yet turn in the Autobots' favour. This was not to be, unfortunately, as the resurrected Autobot leader left the group stranded after having received the Matrix of leadership from Rodimus. After Optimus regained his senses, the Autobots were left to mourn their leader as he sacrificed himself once more to undo the Quintesson's trap. Dark Awakening Arcee, Rodimus, Ultra Magnus and Springer were trapped in human bodies by Victor Drath and Old Snake, but still managed to foil the pair's plan to destroy Autobot City. They were later successfully returned to their robot bodies. Only Human Unfortunately, Orion Pax suffers from the same design issue as the mold's original release. The painted robot mode crotch area that is part of the vehicle mode undercarriage does not fold up far enough to prevent dragging and paint damage, thus care should be taken when the figure is transformed. His chest panel can flip up to reveal a shallow recess for the Autobot Matrix of Leadership, though no Matrix accessory to date is actually flat enough to fit inside. As with other War for Cybertron Trilogy figures, Optimus Prime was exclusive to Walmart in Canada and the United States.

That's the robot mode out of the way, lets get to the vehicle mode! The transformation was pretty involved, but for a Commander class surprisingly intuitive and simple for me at least: Just looking at Magnus you get a pretty good idea of how he transforms. The chest turns inside out to form the cab, a lot of panels folding and tabbing in and whatnot, and most of it is done really well! Really the only steps that gave me any trouble were tabbing the cab together, because you have to be very precise with lining everything up, and collapsing the knees because the instructions are garbage lol. Definitely hoping Emgo gets this one in hand ASAP for the Just Transform It! As the Ascenticon crisis on Cybertron heated up, Orion Pax overstepped his authority when he suggested that Pyra Magna be released as a substitute for Magnus. Sentinel angrily refused the notion and proclaimed to his second that he would pass on the Matrix of Leadership to Ultra Magnus when he passed, not Orion. All Fall Down When Sentinel passed not long after, Orion initially intended to merely hold on to the Matrix of Leadership until he could pass it to Ultra Magnus, but the Matrix bonded with him instead and turned him into Optimus Prime. Prime While searching for Vigilem, Nosecone lamented that, among many other problems, Magnus and the Fist of Iacon had gone missing. Light/Star The cab is detachable from the car carrier, so here are the two cabs compared. So different, yet so alike at the same time! Reminiscent of the fact that the original Return of Convoy Star Convoy figure could transform into a battle station, a "Z Base Mode" resembling that original battle station mode was created for the character and introduced in the Selects Special Comic promoting Super Megatron. This figure (and any of the Power of the Primes Evolution Optimus Prime molds) is capable of being configured into this form. In reference to the fact that the original Star Convoy figure included a Micromaster version of Hot Rod to man the battle station, one can populate the Z Base Mode with the Firedrive or Rodimus Prime Titan Masters from Hot Rod's Titans Return figure and the "Chaos on Velocitron" box set respectively. As said Hot Rod Micromaster could also store in the original Star Convoy figure's chest, one can also re-enact this functionality by taking a Matrix frame from a Power of the Primes Leader Class figure and placing one of the aforementioned Titan Masters in it, then inserting the frame into Star Convoy's chest.

The figure debuted as a San Diego Comic-Con 2017 exclusive in the U.S., then as a Toys"R"Us exclusive in the United States and Canada. And then Takara saw this and were all like, "Oh, crap, that's right, we can do redecoes, can't we?"

Part of the first wave of TakaraTomy's Premium Finish subline, Optimus Prime is a redeco of the Siege Voyager Class toy, with the same weapons and C.O.M.B.A.T. System functionality. If you think about, that Masterpiece toy is kinda like if your coworker died on the job and you wore their skin afterwards." There are reported issues where the left chest piece is unable to tab in fully due to a deformed pin, leaving a small uneven gap visible in robot mode. In the altered chronology of the Binaltech saga, Optimus Prime is still alive, having never had the final showdown with Megatron at the Battle of Autobot City. When Ravage arranges for the Autobots to be alone in the battle against the threat of Unicron, Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus team up to take on the planet-eater, having discovered that the Matrix is the key to Unicron's destruction. Within Unicron's body, Optimus Prime is severely damaged, and although not fatally, he passes the Matrix to Ultra Magnus to complete the mission. Ultra Magnus sheds his outer armor and proceeds on, successfully opening the Matrix and initiating the destruction of Unicron. Magnus and Prime escape the exploding giant. Additionally, TakaraTomy reissued Masterpiece Ultra Magnus in 2008 sporting their logo in the top right-hand corner of the box to replace the Takara logo in the bottom right featured on the original release in 2005. This reissue has been met with some quality control issues much like that of Convoy Perfect Edition, such as bad paint applications and chipping, misaligned doors, and even mis-assembled headlights which have been installed upside down.During the War of the Threefold Spark, Ultra Magnus rose to become one of the four " Great Generals" responsible for leading the war effort against Exarchon and his allies. Megatron was one of the many Cybertronians who served under him, The Change In Your Nature Part Three and the pair fought-side-by-side on several occasions. Storm Horizon Part 1 He served throughout the entire war, and on the eve of the final battle against the Threefold Spark in Iacon he and Dai Atlas attended Highbrow's briefing regarding Exarchon's unusual physiology. Darkness, Once Gazed Upon: Part One

The trailer for that Commander-sized vehicle is going to be very hollow. It's a narrow box on top, a flat panel on the bottom, a pillar at each corner, and a folding ramp at the rear. The front and sides of the trailer are basically open spaces, and there's nothing within the trailer. He was released with Skywarp as part of the "Battle for Autobot City" set. He was also available in Woolworth stores throughout the United Kingdom.

Ever since he was first shown off, I had some idea of how Ultra Magnus would look and feel like in hand. And oh boy, they delivered BIG time. Magnus looks fantastic: The detailing, the plastic quality and finish, the paintjob it's all just so perfectly on point! Despite some proportional differences, it feels like Magnus had walked out of the animation and into my hands, this is the most accurate-looking CHUG robot mode I think I've ever seen! The Energon version of Ultra Magnus, like all the recolorations of Armada toys featured in the early stages of the toyline, never appeared in the TV show or the Dreamwave comic. Fortress Maximus's instructions depict him as part of the Cybertron City combination. Meanwhile, the "Siege on Cybertron" instructions show him as a part of the Nemesis Command combination, albeit mislabeled as Autobot Blaster. Ultra Magnus from Dreamwave Productions' 21st-century re-imagining of the Generation One universe took the opportunity to indulge two contentious aspects of Ultra Magnus previously resigned to fan speculation: here, he was revealed to be Optimus Prime's "brother" in the Dreamwave continuity, and also hinted to be Dion, a childhood friend of Optimus Prime from the animated series, due to the name of a strike force he led. In Japanese continuity, Powerdrive, as a buggy drone in his original form, is based on the original Powered Convoy's accessory, who was named "Powered Buggy" (パワードバギー). The implication here is that the original Powered Convoy toy, Powered Buggy and all, represents the original Delta Magnus, while the Masterpiece toy (with integrated cab and no partner) is Powerdrive as Delta Magnus.

This review only goes over Optimus Prime. As the stands are available separately in Autobot Red and Decepticon Purple colors, the stand review will go in a separate thread. On a side note, the stands are infuriatingly frustrating to put together. He's definitely shorter than most of the other Commanders, but for me at least he has 100% earned that Commander price point: Not only is the quality of the plastic just fantastic, but there is a lot of it. Seriously, he might be short but when weighing them in hand Magnus feels about as heavy as Armada Optimus and Jetfire! He is super dense, with no hollow bits anywhere on him. He's a straight redeco of Kingdom UM core bot. The waist piece is actually painted over in silver. The redeco itself looks nice. The eyes are painted blue for this bot with the surrounding eye area painted silver for proper contrast. However, this mold makes OP look stumpy and thicc. The outward shoulder movement isn't ratcheted and its a little bit loose: Magnus can hold his guns just fine, but putting any more than 1 blast effect on them will make them droop downGenerations Selects Star Convoy is a retool of the Power of the Primes Leader Class mold, featuring new lower legs, head, upper shoulders, and waist parts for both the armor and inner robot, and a new torso for the latter. The Optimus Prime inner robot is remolded to resemble his Generation 1 toy, complete with toy-accurate yellow eyes. Most of the armor's grey parts (especially the evolution armor's arms) are now remolded in red plastic to be more accurate to Star Convoy's character model, though there are a few sacrifices leaving some of the red patches on the trailer. Though Optimus's wave was scheduled for a first quarter 2015 release, it arrived on U.S. store shelves in late 2014. Apparently before the decision to make Magnus a Powered Convoy recolour was used, Floro Dery created at least three original concepts, of which the third apparently formed the basis for Orion Pax in "War Dawn." God Magnus (Ultra Magnus) - Car Robots - Toy Gallery". Archived from the original on 2007-09-26 . Retrieved 2007-08-11. Ultra Magnus did not appear in Marvel Comics' American Transformers comic book series outside of a comic book adaptation of a third-season episode of the animated Transformers series. However, the series' sister title in the U.K. did feature in the character extensively in its own original stories (particularly issues in and around the 100 mark); the American stories made little use of the new cast introduced in The Transformers: The Movie, and U.K. writer Simon Furman pounced on the opportunity to use them in his own ways. Whereas all the other movie characters who appeared in the stories — such as Galvatron, Hot Rod and Kup — appeared via the use of time travel, it was Ultra Magnus's present-day self who played a key role in many of the important UK storylines. As per the original intent of his character and toy, Magnus was presented as the arch-foe of Galvatron.
