I'm very happy with mine. Took some time to break in, sounded dull at first. I,m new to this turntable stuff, but would like to know more. We are as crazy about this hobby as you are! So come on in and join us! Audioshark.org the Friendliest Audio Forum! top end and high midrange was noticably restricted, high treble in particular sounded muffled and generally absent...detail levels were low and the lumpy bloated bass was devoid of any real articulation... The above and below images show part of the setup. Also used is a CH Precision A1.5 poweramp and Magico S1 MkII loudspeakers. With a hardened, low-mass tapered aluminum alloy cantilever and a Superfine elliptical diamond stylus, the MP-150 is positioned just below the middle in Nagaoka’s lineup.

Audioshark is a community of like minded individuals. Audioshark welcomes participation from all manufacturers and owners of all brands and products. It is our belief that online forums provide a community of like minded audiophiles and music lovers to encourage the growth of this wonderful hobby. The fly in the soup first, which costs this one a perfect score: the MP-150 does not handle certain kinds of surface damage well. To apply in store, simply call in to our branch and one of our experienced sales team will guide you through the application. No part of the frequency range goes underrepresented: sparkly, non-edgy treble, midrange with a very nice presence, tight and slamming bass ... all combined with detailed imaging and a wide soundstage. The E3 has an aluminum cantilever with an elliptical tip (0.3 x 0.7mil) while the base E1 model swaps the aluminum for carbon reinforced ABS and the tip for a 0.6mil spherical design.Because the Nagaoka MP-150H is premounted on a headshell, no screwdriver and spare screws and bolts are included. I keep wanting to go to the meetings but every time they have one I work. I work in the medical field and work evenings from 2pm to 8pm. I am a friend of Frank Van Alstine who attends some of their meetings. I believe I bought the MP-150 from turntableneedles.com. The ND use to carry Nagaoka, not sure why they stopped.

The AudioShark forum was created for sharing the passion of high-end Audio. We have Audiophiles from all over the world participating and sharing their knowledge. From novice to experts, you will find a friendly environment for discussing about High End Audio, Stereo System, Home Theater System, Home Stereo System, Home Theater Installation, Amplifiers, Speakers, Subwoofers, Integrated System, Acoustic treatments & Digital Room Corrections and many more. You will like the MP-200 which is a little more refined than the 150. Tighter bass a bit more detail. I think that the 150 may be warmer but I am comparing it in different systems. What phono pre are you using? Since this Mini review is actually a spin-off from an extensive Avid turntable review, I had 3 tonearms and 3 turntables available. The next step for that review was to see how much the 8.800 euro Sequel turntable itself would improve on the entry-level Ingenium after fitting the TA-1 arm with the standard.Initial impressions: Upon first needle drop, I could already tell that the MP-150 is a considerable step up from the MP-110 (to my ears). Even if the presentation seemed a bit flat for the first few hours of listening, there is a noticeable improvement in the top end over the 110 - not only does it reach higher/have more clarity, the treble response is also sweeter and more refined than that of the 110 (which comparatively speaking, has some more grit to the highs/is more rolled off in frequency extension).

Well, hopefully you'll be able to make it to one of the ASM meetings next year. They are generally good and some are really excellent (actually Frank Van Alstine's was one of them!). Either in store or from the comfort of your own home. We appreciate life is busy, so why not let us make it a little easier for you.

If anyone is reading this trying to figure out what I was; e.g. will the Nagaoka match well and be a simple swap for the new Pro-Ject Carbon turntables the answer is a definite Yes - go for it! I have used your so called recommendations such as Stanton 881S, and while they were good in their day I feel the Nagaoka’s are better and what I remember of stylus wear, the Stanton’s were certainly no better. Well comrade, while we are airing our "dirty laundry" I’m at least willing to give that gentleman the benefit of the doubt. I have done my own comparisons and have found the Nagaoka’s to be of good quality if not Sota. You dismiss them as just do much junk. Nagaoka MP-150 / MP-150H comes with a superfine polished elliptical diamond stylus tip on a low mass, hardened, tapered aluminum alloy Cantilever. This midrange priced Nagaoka MP-150 / MP-150H already has the matureness of the more expensive siblings. A rich warm and wide soundstage with punchy bass and natural sounding vocals.
