The X-mount version of the lens measures 64.8mm (2.6”) in diameter, 73.6mm (2.9”) long and weighs 275g (9.7oz). 56mm F1.4 DC DN | C Let's take a closer look at each lens in turn. First, the Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN C lens is 92.6 millimeters (3.6 inches) long and has a max diameter of 72.2mm (2.8"). The lens has a 67mm filter size, the largest diameter filter of the three lenses. It's also the heaviest lens, coming in at 405 grams (14.3 ounces). The lens features a weather-sealed construction. Naturally, it’s not all about sharpness. When using a wide aperture to gain a tight depth of field, the bokeh, or quality of defocused areas, can be equally important. The Sigma excels here again, with a wonderfully soft bokeh and a nicely smooth transition between focused and defocused areas. An added bonus is that there’s extremely little axial chromatic aberration, even when shooting wide-open. In this respect, it performs rather better than the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 Contemporary lens. Lab tests

The Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN lens for Fujifilm X-mount is constructed of 16 elements in 13 groups, including two FLD elements, two super low-dispersion (SLD) elements and two aspherical elements. It features a nine-blade aperture diaphragm, offers a minimum focusing distance of 25cm (9.8"), has an aperture range of F1.4 through F16 and uses a 67mm front filter thread. The 56mm f1.4 also scored highly in term sod optical performance. The images it produces are superb, and in every way, I feel this lens compares very favorably with what Fujifilm offers. PL Water-repellent, Antistatic type. Circular PL filter removes the reflection of water surface and glass windows, and increases the contrast in landscape photography. Initially, three F1.4 prime lenses ( 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary, 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary, 56mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary), which are currently available in four mounts (Sony E-mount, Canon EF-M mount, Micro Four Thirds mount and L-Mount) will be simultaneously released in X Mount, and the lineup will expand in the future. Specifically, the recently-released SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary lens, currently available for Sony E-mount and L-Mount, is tentatively scheduled for a December 2022 release. The lens weighs a mere 280g on the scales. As part of the boxed contents you get front and rear caps and a plastic hood (LH582-01) that can be reversed when it’s not being used. Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN C Build & Handling

Above, left to right: Sigma 56mm f1.4, Sony e 50mm f1.8, Sony FE 50mm f1.8. All at f2.8. Crops from right side. If the slight bit of snark ruined your day I do apologize. EF-M *is* the most common abbreviation for the Canon mount tho and he *did* write *Canon* so, y'know, not totally unwarranted. That’s positive. Yeah, the Contemporary lines just get sealing at the mount, but I see no reason to doubt its efficacy as long as you’re not in a waterfall in Costa Rica (in such exceptional cases other systems come into focus: newer ART lenses with comprehensive sealing or Panasonic S Pro or m4/3 Olympus Pro gear combinations etc may make more sense.) Unfortunately, it’s been damp and dreary for most of my time with the Sigma 56mm. However, I’m fairly confident in saying it has very little issues with any kind of chromatic aberration. I saw this too. Fingers crossed, I think they might have a chance with recent developments. The worst thing about leaving M43 was saying goodbye to the amazing Sigma lenses. Their focal lengths would have made more sense on APSC too. Fuji lenses cost much more than the M43/E mount Sigmas, so I have had a slow start with Fuji. The Sigma 56mm f1.4 lens has several features that make it stand out. These include a fast maximum aperture of f/1.4, which allows for excellent low-light performance and a lovely shallow depth of field. It also has a high-quality optical design with 10 elements in 6 groups, including two SLD elements and one aspherical element, which helps to reduce chromatic aberration and distortion. The lens has a silent autofocus motor and a manual focus override option. What cameras are the Sigma 56mm f1.4 lens compatible with?

French photographer Pierre-Emmanuel Delétrée talks about his impression on the SIGMA 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary, 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary and 56mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary for Nikon Z mount cameras and his life being a photograher. In addition, a Behind the Scenes video of his visit in SIGMA’s Aizu factory is available as well. We’ve been using the 56mm F1.4 with the Nikon Z30. It is the smallest of the Contemporary trio and balances pretty well with the Z30, though it’d also be an excellent match for the Z50 and the Zfc. It might feel a little small on a full-frame model, but the benefit of a lightweight option for your kit bag is potentially worth it.

Fuji finally opened the doors. Sigma walks through. Fuji folks--who don't care at all about Sony--are excited because whatever else Sigma has done in the past, they're making lenses for us now. We don't want to be told that we're just a worthless afterthought because Sony seems to be moving away from APS-C. As we found with the other mounts, image quality is great with a high level of sharpness and pleasing bokeh in out of focus areas when used at the widest aperture of f/1.4. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this lens for Nikon DX users who want an excellent portrait lens, and I’d probably also say it’s worth full-frame users considering it too if they want something more affordable and lighter than Nikon’s closest equivalent. Amy Davies. Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Verdict The focus position of the lens when the ON/OFF (power) switch is turned “ON” or when the camera is restored from power saving has been changed to the specification that the focus position is set to the shooting distance right before the ON/OFF (power) switch is turned “OFF” or power saving is activated. The Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN is a pretty simple lens. Ergonomically, there isn’t a whole lot to say. The lens features a manual focus ring that feels pretty standard for a Sigma lens. It’s lightly damped and has a feel that’s fairly normal to modern lenses. That is the only control point on the lens.
