If the cold water tank is more than 600mm above the shower head, then you have a positive head system.In particular the HW feed used to be very poor due to air in the system - the pump eliminates this entirely. Had a standard Salamander or Grundfoss type pump been installed then the noise would have woken up anyone trying to sleep and drowned out the TV. The only reason not to install these over a more conventional pump is to make the job more expensive as far as I can see.

TapBoost cannot be installed on hot water pipes/outlets from an unvented system – TapBoost should only be fitted to a cold-water outlet in unvented systems.
