The peripheral characters lend balance and support throughout. Merlin is by far most intriguing. he's the actual narrator and Foreteller. Carrying enough burden for 7 lives, he is the moral compass of the story. Appearing at crucial junctures he never assumes control but is always in control. The time follows him cuz he's that immortal !! The dynamics between Ash, Embry, and Greer defy explanation. They are bound together in a wonderfully addictive relationship. Holy Mother of Hates! This book is off the heat chart in terms of kink. I love that the sex isn’t just there for the sake of smutty sex. It enhances the overall plot and serves to validate the emotions of everyone involved.

I think I want that for myself..." - GreerSierra’s writing is amazing. She paints a clear picture of all the characters, and is able to convey the complexity of their emotions without rambling or feeling over dramatic. One kiss...one kiss they shared and she melts and he imprints on her heart and mind....So did mine. Told from Greer's (our female protagonist) perspective, American Queen spans 18 years with Simone cleverly transitioning past and present. Greer's voice is intelligent- bold even- and at many instances, I wished to simply crawl inside her mind. I liked her a lot and was rooting for her all through! Perhaps Embry's always had the part of me that wielded the sword, but she... she's always owned the part that wears the crown.

So I didn't like how the author just made it look like the heroine could not tell how bad of a friend her "best friend" was. At one of these parties she meets a man called Ash, he is handsome and kind to her, considering she is always in the shadow of her gorgeous best friend.Be warned, you will need to have book 2 lined up for immediate start, this ends on a MAHOOSIVE cliffhanger, but it is ooohhh so good. It is at one of these events, she meets a man who at her young age, she can’t stop thinking about. One stolen kiss, that was all it took. As with life though, sometimes love takes us on a path that is not clearly marked…sometimes we must take the direct route…sometimes we take the route that is best directed from someone else. But in the end, true love will find each other. I enjoyed the storyline and I keep telling myself the authors might still fill in the million holes in this story over the next two books. I had a few small issues with this book and the way the relationships played out but that is because I really dislike insta-love and this book was that X2! I wish their was more build up of the love story and even the sex. Besides that, I was very intrigued by the political & religious aspects of this book but sadly they fizzled out to more of a side note. The wedding night was hot but really the only real MM sex we get is “them together in the shower” and yes I am talking about when she says they were together and that’s just mean to not give the details! I saw the ending coming a mile away but I’m hoping it’s going to make book 2 heavier on the storyline. I am not losing hope, I am moving on to book 2 and now maybe with different expectation book 2 will blow me away! You are wondering who the second man is, aren't you? If this sounds like a book you might enjoy just go ahead and dive in. In fear of giving spoilers I will just say that this is definitely not a case of insta-lust or cheating. The situation here is rather interesting and unique. This was a great beginning to a potentially amazing story and I will be patiently waiting for the second installment.

That is until Embry shows up 5 years later and informs Greer that a recently widowed Ash (who is now the President of the USA) would like to meet with her. And as they say, the rest is history.The two decide to spend the night together. she gives him her virginity and... (Yes, you guessed it!) They both immediately fall in love with each other (eye role). But he's gone the next day and she never hears from him again... I have NO IDEA where the story is going to go next but I’m so excited to see where and how takes the story of Greer, Ash and Embry next!

Overall, I ended up just okay with it but kind of wishing I had saved my audio credits as well as my time by reminding myself each time I try menage it doesn’t work for me.The years goes by... Ash is the President of the United States (at 35! I can't get my husband to take out the trash by himself) and Embry is the Vice President - and the three of them meet again. And that quote about sums up my feelings for this entire series. I've felt it right from the beginning and reading Ash's book only confirmed it. Hands down he loved both of them but he was only ever in love with one person.
