It’s a story that will inspire courage and wisdom in the decisions we make, as well as affect the way we treat others through our lifetime. But there’s only so much she can do, and unfortunately just like insects, humans don’t stay cooped up in their hives either–they buzz about and… socialize. There were a few passages that could have been omitted and I admit I started skimming over some of the flash backs, because they came across as filler and didn't really drive the action forward or enhance our knowledge of the characters or the story line. Here is a fascinating appreciation of the ways in which these creatures have altered-and continue to shape-the very frameworks of our existence.

The album’s instant canonisation owed something to the recent rise of Black Lives Matter, for which the song Alright became an anthem, but Lamar’s obsession with hypocrisy and complicity makes for a more complicated message. When Sara Fraker, a music professor and member of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, finished reading Braiding Sweetgrass by plant ecologist Robin Wall Kimmerer, she was alive with inspiration. The Butterfly Effect is a haunting, yet whimsical, fable about a child's extraordinary adventure to a place where one's state of mind creates one's reality. Coming home means confronting all that she left behind, including her lousy soon-to-be sister-in-law, her estranged mother, and her ex-boyfriend Brandon who has conveniently found a new non-lab-exclusive partner with shiny hair, perfect teeth, and can actually remember the names of the people she meets right away. As he attempts to mend the broken lives of those closest to him, he finds that every trip into the past brings chaotic results into the present, leading him to travel back again and again, causing irreparable damage.

Perhaps I would have liked it more if it was the size of a normal book rather than its smaller size. In “The Boy Who Changed The World”, he illustrates this effect through the story of Norman Borlaug, who won the Nobel Peace prize in 1970 for creating seeds that were able to withstand harsh conditions and thus increased peace by increasing food supply to poor nations. And while there were times where I found myself wanting to give Greta a talking to, I always understood why she acted the way she did and, as a result, found myself so much more invested in her journey. The secret in his story is that Borlaug could never have accomplished his feat without Vice President Henry Wallace.

This little book contains many examples of how people’s small and seemingly insignificant actions have changed the world in very big ways. By going backwards in time and seeing who the people were who stimulated him to create the seeds and who inspired or helped them, the author shows that everything that we do is very important, and even little things matter. An insightful, entertaining dive into the fruitful, centuries-long relationship between humans and insects, revealing the fascinating and surprising array of ways humans depend on these minute, six-legged pests. If you are an author and you want to get a review on your book, then I guess this book is the right choice for you. The butterfly doesn't cause the tornado per se, but without that flapping of the wings that particular tornado would not have existed in that time and space, so the butterfly was essential in that tornado's formation. This resulted in the posthumous publication of two seminal collections of poems, as well as a book of correspondence Letters from Max: A Poet, A Teacher, A Friendship, which was adapted for the stage by Max’s friend, mentor, and co-author Sarah Ruhl at The Signature Theatre in February of 2023.
