Admittedly while yes having matched colours would look nicer trying to distinguish between two nigh identical black pins to see which one has which friction to use in a certain place would be a nightmare (or whether its a pin or axel on the other side from the one point of view in the instructions) so the colour identifiers massively speeds up and assists building. I wonder if one could rebuild the shovel arm mechanisms to use ratcheting pieces in the joints and remove the wonky dial controls so that it functions more naturally, albeit with more direct human contact to the joints.
