I gave myself a pep talk regarding the menage issue prior to starting this series but I still found myself not liking it due to the jealousy issue between the men here. I mean, they actually had a relationship on their own and even that felt like it was too much one on one to allow for a cohesive relationship between the trio. Only with Maxen and Greer does my world make sense, only between them can I find peace from the demons that haunt me. But men like me aren’t made to be happy. We don’t deserve it. And I should have known a love as sharp as ours could cut both ways. As a reader, I have been entertained with depictions of menage in other books. However, I never felt the moving love story of the principles within the tale. This story opened my eyes and educated my heart about different ideas of love and sex. The possibility of impossibly all hard and tough male falling in love with hard and tough male. The duality inside each of these characters. Each lover in the menage a trois grabbing their own personal satisfaction selfishly and giving satisfaction generously. I am not a fan of menage but I fell to the pressure of the masses and figured if everyone else was loving this one, surely I would too. I did not. After listening to all three audios I realized they could have all been condensed into one had the sex simply been cut in half. And I am not a prude. I love my sex scenes and especially as they were written here where there is a connection between the characters (that was one saving grace for this series for me - there is never a question that these characters feel deeply) but every time I engaged my listening device they were having sex. Every. Single. Time. The time line takes you on a ride through ya decade and we find out more with each book and how it all ties together. I cannot say enough great things about this trilogy 🤩

These narrators did an exceptional job on these characters and I was completely pulled into the story largely in part to their talent. This was good. I really got into the retelling aspect of this series, but the political side didn't seem fleshed out enough. Fixing my expectations to focus on the romance with Greer, Ash, and Embry along with finding the Camelot references allowed me to really enjoy the story. It starts with a stolen kiss under an English sky, and it ends with a walk down the aisle. It starts with the President sending his best friend to woo me on his behalf, and it ends with my heart split in two.
