Description

Atticus Priest is a former detective with the Salisbury CID who lost his job for drug use and has now set up as a private investigator. Don’t under estimate any characters actions or words because all are central to the plot no matter how insignificant you deem them to be whilst reading. With the trial about to begin, Ralph’s wife hires Private Investigator Atticus Priest to take a second look at all the evidence against her husband to help acquit him. Atticus is hired by this man's wife who refuses to believe her husband guilty, and this puts him directly in the path of Mack, who is trying to prove his Guilt! After sneaking off to Epping Forest to find an abandoned house, Eve, Tom, and Clovis spend the evening using a ouija board to contact spirits.

So the idea of a confident young girl, joined by two friends and her uncle, not forgetting her bulldog Boris (in real life he’s my dog, Watson, and has become part of my investigation team) was irresistible – and I loved writing about them as they began to unravel the secrets of the afterlife, whilst helping some lost souls on the way. Published by Andersen Press, The House In The Woods is a full length novel that follows on the trail of three children/central characters: Clovis, Eve and Tom. Mark Dawson is fast becoming the gold standard for this genre, and for darn good reason — He is superb!I admit to being slightly confused but just for a short time and as I neared the end of the book I realised that every person mentioned had a vital role to play no matter how big or small. The House In The Woods jumps between the past and the present as Evie’s backstory is slowly revealed.

The guilt weighs heavily on Evie and she is reluctant to shed any light as to why but a series of alarming and troubling events and coincidences really start to unnerve her. This is the first book in a new series and I’m happy that once chosen it because I won’t be missing any in the future.By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. I rather strongly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mysteries with many twists and turns which The House in the Woods definitely has. There was no romance, since it was over between Atticus and Mack when the book started, so I can't see why it was even part of the story! Mack respects Atticus’s work, even though he crosses the line with his methods and may destroy her case against Ralph Mallender, in favour of the murder suicide scenario where Cameron is the killer. But not all is as it seems, her long hours and dedication to her job causes friction in her marriage, which is just recovering from her affair with Atticus, who she promised never to see again; and now they are working on the same case.

The scene is discovered by Ralph Mallender, Cameron's brother, who had turned up late to a festive family get-together and he reported it to the police.Wondering where his next meal will come from, Priest is approached by a young woman whose husband has been charged with murdering his parents, brother and sister (which is apparently illegal in Britain, even if they are really annoying).
