I loved Lost For Words so I was looking forward to this but I’m afraid I found it very disappointing. However, the story thread of Rosemary and George as well as Loveday, Kelly and Maddison is weaved through the book as the main story arc.

All in all, I enjoyed the book and look forward to exploring the reading suggestions at the back of the book. It's filled with the recommendations that they provide - books for loneliness, books to scare you, books for being normal or books to travel somewhere new. But, these lockdowns were so different to the way my own country, New Zealand, experienced lockdowns that they didn't even seem like lockdowns.Beautifully written and thought provoking, it has reminded me of books I had forgotten about but will certainly read again plus some that I am unfamiliar with but will look out for. I rarely get emotional reading but this book is so beautifully poignant and touching, speaking if a time when the world stopped, how we all feared how it would end and did the best we could for ourselves and those we love, a gentle hug of a story. Kelly also comes up with the idea of a ‘book pharmacy’, prescribing books to help people as they deal with problems, whether or not related to the pandemic. This is a wonderful idea for a novel and the creation of a book pharmacy during the Covid pandemic works so well to introduce so many different characters, each with their stories and needs. The book recommendations throughout the story have a wide range of offerings, with a sentence or two to describe why it was added as a possibility of interest and intrigue to answer an individual’s request.

I had a little smile when Flowers for Mrs Harris by Paul Gallico was mentioned, as I’m currently listening to that on audiobook. Also in Jersey, although we had a lockdown and restrictions in 2020, and then small ones again later on, it was nothing like what the UK experienced. Some of these books I own, and want to read even more now; some I have read and enjoyed the small summery to remind me why I loved them and some that I haven't read, but have now been added to my TBR. Others flit in and out of the book and we get to know their situations and the unique pressures facing each of them at that time. I'd recommend this book to book lovers as it contains lots of book recommendations within it and I've written quite a few down.
