Freya Bloom represents a strong woman, but also showcases what too many women have gone through in this world, showing those vulnerable moments in D. Filled with twists, peppered with romance, and flavored with humor, the Wild Fens Murder Mystery series is perfect for fans of JD Kirk, JM Dalgliesh, Ann Cleeves, and Rachel McClean. Only hours into the investigation Freya makes a discovery that changes everything, and the open and shut case she had hoped for was clearly going to be complex. I dropped one star simply because the relationship between two of the characters was somewhat predictable and did not really add anything to the appeal of the story for me, though others may differ in their opinion. A DI moving somewhere remote after a difficult event is a little cliched, but it is well handled here and the police characters are engaging.
