Problematic behaviors – W hich actions do you engage in that take away from, rather than add to, your life? Ask the child to select one or two strengths that they want to develop. Ask: “Is there anything you’d like to become better at?” Because values can ground and direct our therapeutic work, enriching client lives, it is essential to understand what they are (LeJeune & Luoma, 2019): The Children’s Strength Cards serve as a way of reminding children that we all have strengths and that it is important to focus on what we are good at, rather than what we struggle with. I have found the VALUE cards to be an invaluable part of my facilitation tool-kit. They were perfect when recently the subject of personal values was raised on a leadership development programme.
