Who knows what the next year will bring? But we remain hopeful there'll be better news on all fronts in the new year. Whether our original Supermarionation plans will come to fruition remains to be seen. But whatever happens, we hope we'll be able to adapt our projects to suit and keep the revived Supermarionation going for a new audience. The number of Thunderbirds machines in this new International Rescue was also increased from six to seventeen (with an eighteenth under construction in the episode Starcrusher), although several would never appear on screen. Most were substantially different from those seen in the Supermarionation series, although several borrowed heavily from those designs. Thunderbird 4 would remain a yellow submarine, while Thunderbird 16 was a gold and silver drilling machine named the Mole. Thunderbird 6 was the organisation’s Earth-orbiting space station, but manned by a crew of hundreds as opposed to one. “Who do I speak to about a transfer?” 2086’s Thunderbird 4. This original story, written to introduce the series' premise, is about Lady Penelope's first visit to Tracy Island and serves as a prequel to " Trapped in the Sky". [10] In addition to the Christmas special, we also found time to do a Halloween episode too, which premiered on the 31st October. You can see the episode here: Nebula-75 Halloween Special Of the original stories, voice actors Peter Dyneley, David Graham and Sylvia Anderson featured in all three, Ray Barrett in two and Shane Rimmer in one. [10] [11] Two of the stories– F.A.B. and The Stately Homes Robberies–were told from the point of view of Lady Penelope and Parker, and featured original music by Barry Gray. [12] In 2015, the stories were adapted as screen episodes to mark Thunderbirds ' 50th anniversary. [13]

Full details regarding the release have yet to be given, but there will certainly be a flurry of activity to coincide with the release. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the series, our team team produced three brand new episodes of Thunderbirds using all the classic techniques. Lady Penelope goes on the trail of a kidnapped scientist, only to find herself in mortal danger at the hands of a megalomaniac determined to exploit the expert's work to his advantage. All TV episodes were released on Region 2 DVD by Carlton in 2000 and 2001. [1] A Region 1 box set by A&E Home Video followed in 2002. [2] The episodes were released on Blu-ray Disc in 2008. The world's tallest tower catches fire following an explosion in the car park and International Rescue are called to rescue a family trapped in the basement, which they can accomplish only with an experimental cutting gas ("Oxyhydnite") that previously rendered Scott and Virgil Tracy unconscious during testing. CAPTAIN: “I say, old bean! Here we are beginning our story, our adventure into outer space. I can’t wait to see what happens to us!”

One additional element that came into play midway through Thunderbirds 2086’s run came with the arrival of the mysterious villain Star Crusher and his terrorist group the Shadow Axis, who were behind nefarious plots in several episodes. Although not part of the original Technoboyager series it was nevertheless an interesting attempt to provide a regular villain for 2086 through voiceover alone, since the original animation could not be altered enough to incorporate a new animated character. The ‘IRO datacube’. When the Ocean Pioneer tanker inexplicably explodes, Brains investigates the cause. With some help from Lady Penelope, he discovers it to be a chemical reaction between the cargo of liquid alsterene and OD60, which is found in the sea. International Rescue set out to save the crew of the ill-fated Ocean Pioneer II. The Hood arranges for a mishap with explosives during a film shoot, leaving two of the actors sealed inside a cave. When International Rescue arrive the ensuing rescue is surreptitiously recorded by the Hood, and when the Tracys realize they've been set up a tense chase through the nearby desert ensues. A 500-ton U.S. Army walker, Sidewinder, falls into a pit during testing and International Rescue are called to save the crew trapped inside. Throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s, Thunderbirds fans would have occasionally found themselves faced with another television series also claiming to be an iteration of Thunderbirds. While it certainly featured an organisation called International Rescue, a flotilla of futuristic rescue vehicles known as the Thunderbirds, and was even occasionally promoted using the same Thunderbirds logo as the original television show…it was clearly not of the same production stable as the classic Supermarionation series! Instead, Thunderbirds 2086 was a Japanese animated series that had started life as a different show entirely, before being rebranded as a new incarnation of Thunderbirds and then disappearing for good in the space of just over a decade!a b " Thunderbirds Episode Guide". fanderson.org.uk. International Rescue then volunteer its services in helping to diagnose the cause of the mechanical fault. A malfunctioning solar reflector menaces the Italian coastal village of Monte Bianco, where Lady Penelope and Parker happen to be visiting while on holiday. Two Thunderbirds feature films were released in the 1960s. [4] The events of the first film, Thunderbirds Are Go, precede those of the final TV episode, " Give or Take a Million".
