Description

The BenQ TH585 3500-lumen projector is a 1080p device for use in settings ranging from classrooms to home theaters. With a low 16ms input lag and super-fast response time, this projector will please gaming enthusiasts. It has a short throw distance, projecting 100-inch images just a couple of feet away. The device has a built-in 10-watt speaker for sound output. However, the sound volume on this device is low even after connecting external speakers. Other projector components that may require upkeep or replacement include air filter assemblies for air-cooled projectors, lens motors for models with automatic zoom and lens shift, and Wi-Fi dongles for models that use external wireless modules. Over time, cheaper projectors may experience more color aberration as the light source dims with age. To maintain a bright image and lifelike, vivid color, make sure to keep up with the maintenance of your projector. It also helps to store the unit someplace relatively cool and free of dust. Letting the projector cool off between uses can sometimes prolong the life of the lamp and optics assembly. BenQ Projector Warranties BenQ is a multinational electronics company based in Taipei. It began in 1984 and began marketing using the BenQ brand in 2001. Along with mobile devices, business and industrial displays, monitors, lamps, and the Zowie Gear line of gaming peripherals, BenQ offers top-rated projectors, including LCD projectors and DLP-based laser short-throw projectors, and dedicated gaming projectors. Con 1) Somewhat Lower Light Output in Some Models: While they do well in resolution and sharpness, other projector brands, such as LG, may offer higher maximum brightness to cope with varied ambient lighting.

On portable projectors, battery life is an additional factor that may influence how long the item lasts. Most portable models use lithium-ion batteries rated for between 500 and 2,000 charge cycles.

The Vivitek HK2288 is an example of a single-chip DLP projector that offers a similar design and an almost identical set of features. However it uses a larger imaging chip for a slightly better 4K experience, but also costs more, which gives you an idea of the competitiveness of the TK800. The BenQ TK800 is well-made, has all the connections you’ll need, and sports a solid set of features. It’s easy to set up and simple to operate, making it ideal for periodic use. You’ll get the best image using an actual screen, but a white wall will suffice. The other big feature is support for High Dynamic Range, specifically HDR10. Thanks to BenQ’s Auto HDR Colour Rendition technology, the TK800 can deliver HDR with greater brightness and contrast range than SDR. There are also image optimisation features designed to bring out all the detail in a 4K source. The BenQ TK800 3000-lumen projector has a stylish design that will make a statement in any conference room. This device has a native 4K UHD resolution, delivering up to 8.3 million pixels on the screen or wall. It produces detailed, crisp images and text, so it’s a good device for movies and presentations. This projector supports HDR10 tech, delivering incredibly gorgeous colors. With a brightness of up to 3000 lumens, this device doesn’t require a dark room. However, this projector has limited customization options. To the right of the HDMI ports there is a USB port of type mini B that is used for service, the common RS-232C port for command and control, another USB but this one is Type-A and provides 5V/1.5A power that is ideal to charge 3D glasses or power the optional QCast Mirror dongle and last a 12 volts trigger port that can be used to connect a motorized screen.

It’s a product designed for a market that probably doesn’t really fit with your typical AVForums home cinema fan, but it does a decent enough job of what it sets out to do and at a reasonable price point. If we had tested the BenQ as solely a home cinema model for critical movie viewing it wouldn’t score well at all, given that niche set of image quality points it would need to hit, but this isn’t one of those projectors and doesn’t pretend to be. The look of this movie also helps a lot but it seems that the improved lens that the TK800M uses really brings out all the small details on the screen. The image felt slightly softer in the edges compared to the center but the difference is very small and cannot affect the overall amazing quality we got. With Full HD still going strong rest assured that the TK800M will make the best out of your 1080p library. In keeping with the brand’s experience selling gaming monitors, BenQ markets some highly innovative projectors for gaming, including some of the first 4K native resolution 60Hz gaming projector models available. They also offer budget projectors designed for easy setup and portability. How BenQ Compares to Other Brands The main selling point of the BenQ TK800 is that it supports 4K and while this is true, it’s worth pointing out that the projector’s DLP chip is not 3840x2160 pixels. It uses XPR technology, which essentially takes a 1920x1080 pixel DLP chip and flashes the image four times in incredibly fast succession to create an image with a perceived resolution of over eight million pixels. Amazingly this actually works, and even with test patterns the images appear to be 4K in terms of resolution. You can also opt for ceiling mounts with the BenQ TK800M if you are building a personal theater around it. There are three M4-sized screw points at the bottom which should be sufficient in securing the device. The lightweight nature of the projector is excellent to have at this point since you don’t have to overbuild the mount for it.When it comes to it’s motion performance the TK800M managed to perform very similarly to what we had seen in our HT2550 review. The image managed to retain good clarity even during fast action scenes but obviously blur would appear in such moments. The projector doesn’t seem to have any kind of CFI frame interpolation that could help to improve the overall motion performance but we were not expecting to get any as the extremely low price wouldn’t allow for it.
