The Barbarian is still in the grips of Fear, especially after seeing his friend die. Rage is starting to creep in, but he can’t move enough to engage the Wraith. Originally published by Milton Bradley and Games Workshop (of Warhammer 40K fame), the original HeroQuest debuted in 1989. In that first game, players took on the roles of the Barbarian, Dwarf, Elf, and Wizard to explore the dungeon of the former apprentice of Mentor named Zargon (or Morcar in the UK). As we know, crafting materials will be available to create potions. How will this work and how to our Heroes collect these materials. The first Specter will cast Channel Dread on the Rogue Heir. There is 1 monster next to the Specter, so we’ll add 1 to the roll of 1, making that 2. The Rogue Heir is safe for now. The Specter will float through the bookshelf to safety on the other side. The game's core mechanics revolve around a modular game board and meticulously designed miniatures, bringing the world of HeroQuest: Rise of the Dead Moon to life. Players will move their heroes across the board, exploring new areas, solving puzzles, and engaging in tactical combat against the forces of darkness.

Heroquest Rise of the Dread Moon announcement

The ingredients themselves appear to be part of the treasure cards. When searching for treasure, a Hero may be able to find reagent ingredients. Thanks HispaZargon for the edit! Formerly this was titled "New "Knight" Expansion (PulseCon 2022) News & Discussion"

The action of Crafting itself, is specifically a Wizard action, though it is possible for other Heroes to craft by using a Reagent Kit. I like this new mechanic, if gives the Wizard a new unique ability, similar to the Dwarfs innate ability to disarm traps without a Trap Kit. Thinking that the Wizard is an easy target, the Wraith glides through the bookcase and engages the Wizard. Once again the Wizard is down! This time, with no healing spells left, he breathes his last breath. Finally free Elethorn from Zargon’s vile clutches! The cards and Quest Book in this fantasy-filled HeroQuest expansion feature artwork that immerses you in the perilous adventure Overall, This is a very difficult monster to beat, and it gives Zargon a lot of power to troll the Heroes by hitting, then escaping just out of reach. I’ll be honest, that encounter was a bit exhausting. flier with QR code advertising the Companion App (identical to the one included in MOTM and FH) <--- also handy as a 'bookmark' for the quest book! HeroQuest was a smash hit for tabletop gaming, as well as becoming a gateway to tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons for millions of players. The game also influenced later tabletop board games that came after, including Games Workshop’s own Warhammer Quest, board games based on D&D, and recent games such as Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.

I think there is already going to be a lot of plastic in this expansion. There’s the new Knight, Several new Elven characters, possible Cultists or Wizard type enemies, and we can’t forget Sir Ragnar. I doubt they’ll include more than one sculpt for the Specter. Any named specters, we’ll probably still have to use the Dread Sorcerer! I know the community has been really excited and hyped up about Rise of the Dread Moon, and although we are thrilled to have more details about the expansion, I can’t help but feel bad about the way it’s happened. The dramatic story of treachery and unrest in the elven kingdom continues in this HeroQuest Rise of the Dread Moon expansion! As a brave knight, you’re challenged to finally free Elethorn from the clutches of Zargorn. Embark on dangerous quests, as you seek the aid of the Cadre of the Raven's Veil to help stop Zargorn's forces of Dread from destroying the kingdom. Navigate through a dark labyrinth of waterways, an underground city, and more perilous locations. But be wary—for Zargon's forces grow ever stronger with the rise of the Dread Moon! The value of some potion reagents has fluctuated in this war-torn economy, so you may see some changes to the gold coin value of some of our potions. I imagine that this isn’t exactly the way you were hoping Rise of the Dread Moon to be revealed to the world. I imagine that you had, and maybe still do have big plans for the big reveal. In the ideal world, everything would go according to plan, everyone would receive the game at the same time on launch day, everything would be perfect. First released in 1989 as a joint venture between Games Workshop and Milton Bradley, HeroQuest is arguably one of the most influential board games in the hobby. Its design and structure helped clear the way for an entire ecosystem of similar titles. The decades since found HeroQuest as a hard-to-find collector’s item until Hasbro and Avalon Hill crowdfunded a new edition in 2020.
