All lenses are composed of polycarbonate, and are both anti-reflective and scratch-resistant with 100% UV ray protection. You can choose from single-vision, progressive, and reader frames based on your prescription, or non-prescription if you want the UV protection but don’t need corrective lenses. If there’s one point we make the most on this blog, it’s that digital screens can cause digital eye strain. Another point we frequently bring up is that artificial blue light can disrupt your sleep cycle. Being such a prevalent problem in today’s modern age, this latter point deserves more emphasis. The key here is to target the exact wavelengths of blue light that lighting and screens emit the most, this is 455nm. Our glasses have been designed to filter the 455nm range of blue light by 50% with our ScreenTime clear lens, and 100% with our DayMax yellow lens, whereas most daytime blue light glasses will only filter blue light up to 430nm, and filter none at all at 455nm making them very ineffective! In our modern world, people spend more time than ever in front of screens. In fact, nearly one-third of adults report being online almost constantly throughout the day. Despite its many advantages, this explosion in digital gadgets also comes with a price. Your computer screen, tablet, and smartphone all emit high-energy blue light similar to the sun. When you use these digital devices into the late hours of the evening, the blue light exposure can disrupt your sleep-wake cycle.

Do you find yourself regularly laying in bed staring at the ceiling, wide awake, wondering “why can’t I sleep”? If so, we just may have a solution for you.

Lastly, I liked that I might still be able to see "true color despite the lens tint." I wondered: Could I finally have found a product that could replicate the low-lit cafes and kitchen tables that collectively formed my former workplace? Felix Gray puts forth that its "lenses target the range of blue light that impacts melatonin secretion (440-500 nm wavelengths) to improve the quality of your sleep." I was still listening. Of course, the blue light lenses are the real stars here. And the brand has a few different types, depending on what you need. Optical lenses Brian Lojka, OD, optometrist at Clarkson Eyecare and division medical officer of optometry for EyeCare Partners Anti-reflective properties reduce glare and reflections off the surface of your lenses, which is beneficial when using a computer or mobile device,” says Dr. Brocwell.

When someone travels on the jet, by using the glasses they have control over when their brain recognises that it's nighttime and when it can start making melatonin, whereas most places you get to the destination and they turn on the lights on the airplane and they have bright lights at the airport and that makes it harder to finally get to sleep when you arrive. Designed just for migraine relief, these glasses reduce the intensity, duration, and frequency of migraine headaches for 9/10 people. One of the most effective ways to reduce blue light exposure and improve your sleep is to avoid using electronics before bed. Ideally, you should try to end screen time at least 1 hour before you go to bed, to give your body time to ramp up melatonin production. Instead of scrolling through social media, consider winding down by reading a book or listening to music. Switch Up Your Home LightingThese are the brand’s everyday glasses, available in prescription, nonprescription, or reader lenses. All of the lenses are embedded with Felix Gray’s proprietary anti-blue light technology, so they can filter out 50 percent of all blue light and almost 90 percent of the highest range without distorting color. So everything still looks normal to you. ScreenTime Clear Lens - These filter 50% of blue light across all of the blue light spectrum (400nm-500nm), this will help eliminate digital eye strain, sore and tired eyes, headaches/migraines, and blurred vision from both screen time and bright LED or fluorescent lighting. Vision tests are available online through Warby Parker, allowing you to renew an existing prescription without leaving the house — though only residents of certain states are eligible for this option. You can go this route if your vision hasn’t changed since your last eye doctor appointment, and you don’t have any current eye health concerns. Evening exposure to blue light at night can send signals to us telling us its daytime and to suppress melatonin production

Blue light refers to a specific wavelength in the visible spectrum. The visible spectrum encompasses all the light wavelengths that the human eye can see, including the entire rainbow of colors from red to violet. Among the visible colors, blue light has a relatively short wavelength and delivers high levels of energy to the eye. These glasses are also comfortable, with a lightweight and wide-frame fit that didn’t dig into the sides of the head during our testing. We noted a slight distortion around the edges of the lenses, but it was only noticeable when we weren’t looking at a screen. Overall, these are probably not the best glasses for work or socializing, but we think they are a “solid, no-frills choice” for anyone who spends hours laser-focused on a screen and needs major glare protection and brightness reduction (for instance, as the category suggests, gamers). Unlike the optical lenses, Felix Gray’s sleep lenses have a brown tint to them. But it doesn’t affect your ability to see true color, and since you’re mostly just wearing them at home before bed anyway, the appearance of the lenses doesn’t matter that much. Sunglasses Sleep is an essential function that allows your body to rest, repair, and rejuvenate. Adults need at least seven hours of high-quality sleep per night to feel and function their best. If you’ve been finding it difficult to fall asleep at night and have a habit of using your digital devices before bed, blue light could be to blame. According to the Harvard Medical School, green light can help elicit non-visual responses to light, including resetting circadian rhythms, melatonin production, and alerting the brain. If you’re considering a pair of blue light glasses, you may want to make sure the lenses also include an anti-glare or anti-reflective coating—otherwise, you may find your headaches or digital eye strain continues to persist.
