Description

You can walk over the hill from Mumbles, or (much longer) follow the coast path around the headland. UK champion surfer Gwen Spurlock’s favourite break is at Langland in the right conditions, but Llangennith on the northwest tip has the most reliable waves.

This is separate to any tariff which may or may not be chargeable on the goods due to their country of origin. It boasts a diverse landscape, with its southern coast adorned with sandy beaches and scenic cliff paths, while the northern coast is characterized by expansive salt marshes that gradually merge into the Loughor Estuary. Traffic free bike ride from the seafront inland along the route of a former rail line gently uphill to Killay. long pedestrianised walk seafront walk with fabulous view of Swansea Bay, from the village centre to the pier and The Mumbles (2 islands on the horizon). The path was designed to promote green tourism in the less-explored areas of Gower, letting walkers experience sweeping views of the landscape and discover a new perspective of the area.

These are the map of choice for many walkers, climbers, off-road cyclists, horse riders and anyone involved in outdoor activities.

The uplands are littered with Neolithic remains, most notably the burial chamber topped by the 25-ton Arthur's Stone. A good local is the award-winning Britannia Inn at Llanmadoc, whose beer garden has lovely views down to the Burry Inlet. The first two beaches you hit on the way out of Mumbles onto Gower are also the easiest with small children. Only The Village Inn (dog friendly), and the The George (large food pub) about half way to the pier, remain.

The central section passes close to one of Gower's historic industrial and mining areas, now largely cleared, but with some evidence still of this earlier activity. Worms Head stands as a cherished national symbol, and Rhossili Bay is renowned as one of the most breathtaking beaches in Britain, if not the entire world. The weather-proof fabric map of the Gower coast in South Wales with Llanelli at its centre is designed for outdoor adventures and uses Ordnance Survey’s famous Landranger 1:50k scale style, featuring contours, the OS national grid, rights of way and all the fine tourism detail you’d expect.

Find out for yourself why the Gower Peninsula was the first place to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is still the nation’s favourite. There is a bus service from Swansea to Pennard (NT pay car park, small sop/deli/cafe, 1/2 mile very pretty walk along the cliffs, short easy descent but sandy) or Parkmill (1 mile walk inland along the valley). The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. Just beyond it, are several large chain hotels, the IBIS (a mile outside town on the road in from the M4) has free parking. One key advantage is that many of the beaches in Gower provide a degree of shelter against strong winds and large swells.

Short steep ascent from car parks on the A4118 road which runs below it, or a longer easy and gentle ascent from Reynoldston (pub) along the ridge.
