If you’re looking to add some bling to a plastic item, such as decor, furniture, crafts, or accessories, the shiny, true-metal-appearance of Krylon Premium Metallic Spray Paint is for you. This high-performance paint comes in several colors, including chrome, pewter, gold, copper, rose gold, and silver, all with a smooth, glossy sheen that closely resembles the actual metal. It's a great way to add some shine to holiday ornaments, thrift-store finds, or tired-but-still-usable furnishings.

As bikes and bicycles become more popular in our greener world, we receive more enquiries for painting plastic bike storage containers, too. Because our uPVC paints have excellent adhesion, it is now possible to colour-match other plastic surfaces on your building's exteriors. They can include pipework, downpipes and guttering, cladding, soffits and facia boards on domestic properties and business premises, all of which can become stained and marked from spillages, weathering, birds fouling from perching, etc. Apply Polytrol liberally and evenly with a brush or cloth and leave it to work for 10-20 minutes. Brush out or wipe off any excess Polytrol with a clean lint-free cloth. Leave it to dry. Applying Polytrol to metal Painting plastic gives you the opportunity to take something plain or run down and give it a new lease of life. While many people avoid painting their plastic furniture or doors due to the assumed difficulty, it’s actually pretty easy even for a beginner to get a good finish. Can you paint over dark-coloured uPVC with light colours? Can you change brown uPVC windows to white? For most situations you should think a single 150ml can will cover up to 1 square meter completely to the standard that will last many years and remain flexible and durable. UPDATE 4th April 2019 –I’m getting loads of messages about how our door has held up, so here you go: It’s still looking great and we have no regrets about painting it at all. The majority of paints that adhere to plastic are spray paints. Spray paint applies evenly over plastic's smooth surface, and you don't need to worry about brush marks, which would show up very clearly on a plastic surface. Still, if you prefer or need a brush-on paint, other choices work well on plastic surfaces. Brush-on paints like Majic Paints Diamond Hard RePurpose are especially helpful if you are painting something very small and detailed, such as a craft or miniature, or conversely, if you need to cover a large surface such as a cabinet or piece of furniture.

Fast-drying, easy to apply and looks fantastic – you can’t really go wrong with Hycote when choosing the best acrylic paint for plastic. As an example see this 1938 Austin 7 Ruby seating. Here one of our super happy customers needed just the piping on a seat dying to match the brand new vinyl they just had fitted. (They were also astonished to find the piping was white!)Before you can apply paint to the plastic, it is hugely beneficial to apply a primer, which helps the paint to adhere to the surface. Rust Oleum All Surface also comes in a variety of different colours including cardinal red, matt white and emerald green giving you endless opportunities to customise the plastic surfaces and items in your home.

As a water-based paint, Zinsser Allcoat is also very easy to apply & clean up, with oil-based paints often making painting difficult for less experienced painters. Give the surface is light sand down with fine sandpaper – this will help the new paint key to it. If sanding down older surfaces, make sure you use a dust mask during this step The paint has virtually no odour and the fact it gives off minimal VOCs makes it so safe that it’s received an EN:71-3 certificate which essentially makes it safe to use on children’s toys. Had to wait for a dullish warm day before carrying out my work as not recommended to apply this product in direct sunshine!!A single 150ml can, best case scenario will cover up to 2.5 squre meters in a situation where you're touching up the colour for example, or just moving from white to an off white. Apply Polytrol using a fine wire wool (000 grade) soaked in Polytrol and allow it to work for 10-20 minutes. Wipe off any excess Polytrol with a clean lint-free cloth. Leave to dry.

Making sure the surface is thoroughly clean means you’re going to be applying the paint onto the surface only, not on grease or grime and this ultimately is going to help the paint key to the surface. As a multi-surface paint, it is designed to adhere to any surface, including wood, metal, masonry & plastic. This is crucially important as many paints are only designed for particular applications, such as interior emulsion, masonry paint or metal paint. This allows you to use the paint on other surfaces that you plan on updating at the same time. Yes - so long as the plastic is not brand new, which is unlikely if you recently took possession of a home or business in 2021-onwards! Because of the manufacturing process it is much harder for paints to adhere correctly to brand new uPVC. It is crucial that you choose the correct paint if you are to avoid peeling, splitting and blistering.

While there are other all surface paints that would work well for UPVC front doors (you could even use Rust Oleum All Surface Paint as mentioned above), the Frenchic Al Fresco range offers something unique and having tried it ourselves we can confidently say it’s one of the best we’ve used.
