a b "LOS ANGELES: Rodney King's Wife Files Petition for Divorce". Los Angeles Times. November 29, 1995. Clarke from Pittsburgh, PaA remarkable song. The mental imagery is stark and breathtaking (more so as the lyric goes on), the underlying music quietly (well, until the end) disturbing in a "something's not quite right here" sort of way. And at the same time, it's a catchy pop song you can (and will) sing along with. Probably my favorite Police/Sting song of all time. Vam from Beijing, ChinaThis is a great song. Although it's not bright, happy..but to me, it abreact my pain in now and past. All images are in my brain. Maybe I'll draw them up in someday... Meanwhile, Bobby is falsely accused of throwing a can at Officer Brown at school, and as a punishment, he is assigned to follow him around town and assist with his duties. Bobby gets revenge on Dooley and Clark Peters for throwing the can by helping Officer Brown catch them cutting class at Whataburger. While all that is going on, Dale applies for a job at a Hooter's-esque sports bar called Bazooms! in hopes of being turned down and suing for gender discrimination, but instead he is offered the job.King was born in Sacramento, California, in 1965, the son of Ronald and Odessa King. He and his four siblings grew up in Altadena, California. [6] [7] King attended John Muir High School and often talked about being inspired by his social science teacher, Robert E. Jones. [8] King's father died in 1984 [9] at the age of 42.

After the civil trial, Rodney King was awarded a settlement. He bought a modest house for his mother and one for himself in the LA suburb of Rialto, and occasionally spoke with at-risk kids at the request of local police. King, the son of an alcoholic father, continued to struggle with his own alcohol use after his beating. He told NPR in April 2012 that his sobriety was a work in progress. He was engaged to be married when he died that June. A skilled swimmer and surfer, King was found unconscious at the bottom of his swimming pool. His autopsy reported drugs and alcohol were in his system at his time of death. He was 47. Neighbor Nahshon Dion Anderson and a family friend observed the aftermath of the beating and recounted the details in an unpublished and untitled memoir. [106] [107] [108] Linder, D. (2001).
