Razer Hammerhead Duo Earbuds Review: Decent Sound for Razer Hammerhead Duo Earbuds Review: Decent Sound for

As for PlayStation 4, plugged it in via the controller and boot up some Kingdom Hearts 3 and ironically I’m currently in the Pirate of the Caribbean world so the water sounds were just as crisp and clear as it was on PC. Nintendo Switch However, the main feature of the Hammerhead Duo is obviously the duo driver technology. So let’s talk a bit about that and how it makes this a good headset to get. Typically, most headsets come with a single driver. This means that one little tiny driver is doing all the work – bass, mids and highs (frequencies). Ultimately, the output would sound muddled. With duo driver, the headset is capable of separating deep bass from mid and high frequencies. This makes it capable of delivering a rich and full range audio for superior clarity. Basically, great immersive sound when it comes to entertainment and gaming. Made for mobile gaming (Photo by: Sammy Chan) Compared to single driver headphones, dual drivers allow for more effective sound separation and produce clearer and louder audio that is free from distortion – resulting in a crisper, more precise audio experience whether you are catching up on your favourite TV series or music playlist on the go.

Highly detailed sound in a small package

On PC, I hooked it via my Logitech Z333 volume control hub. Played some Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and I must say; the sound of the waves crashing against the Andrestia as I sailed across Ancient Greek was enough for me to give this headset a thumbs up. PlayStation 4 The music and sound effects in Dragon Quest III on Android came through in all their retro glory. Even better was the fact that Switch games such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition sounded nuanced and balanced, particularly the voicework and orchestral scores. It's worth noting that Razer is planning a Switch-specific edition of the Hammerhead, which will come out in June. The device has silver Razer logos on the earbuds rather than green ones, comes with a carrying case, and has a mic-mute button rather than volume and play/pause on the inline control panel. However, those features are the only differences. If you really need a pair of earbuds for your Switch right now, there's no reason to wait – unless you play a ton of online multiplayer games. The triple-headed snake trademark of Razer is one of the most recognized logos in the global gaming and esports communities. With a fan base that spans every continent, the company has designed and built the world’s largest gamer-focused ecosystem of hardware, software and services.

The Hammerhead Duo primes dual driver technology to become a standard for mobile audio users,” said Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO. “It delivers a clear and precise audio experience in a comfortable form factor that perfectly meets the demands of daily use no matter where you are.” Next, they have a perfect weight to them that it feels premium holding it. I was a little concern about how it’d fit in the ear but turns out they the weight were just nice that it didn’t feel like it was pulling down on my ear. It helps that the Hammerhead Duo comes with three different earbud tips: small, medium and large. You'll have to do a little experimenting to find out which one suits your ears best — which is why it's unhelpful that the tips are such an absolute pain to attach to the buds.Razer’s award-winning hardware includes high-performance gaming peripherals, Blade gaming laptops and the acclaimed Razer Phone. It also comes with an inline mic and controls which consist of three buttons: volume up, play/pause, and volume down. They work as intended and are a nice addition for those wanting to use this set while playing, watching, or listening on their phone. While I had my issues with the Hammerhead Duo, I should point out that my experience wasn't universal. I handed them off to a coworker, who claimed that they were some of the best earbuds she'd ever used, and told me that she couldn't wait to get her hands on them once my review was finished. If you dig Razer gear and need a set of earbuds, these are as good as any. It's also worth looking into the HyperX Clouds — as well as those Marshall Mode EQs. I miss those.

The Razer Hammerhead Duo earbuds provide solid sound, but a few drawbacks hold it back from gaming greatness.

Razer’s software platform, with over 60 million users, includes Razer Synapse (an Internet of Things platform), Razer Chroma (a proprietary RGB lighting technology system), and Razer Cortex (a game optimizer and launcher). We tested these headphones with movies as well and found that that same high-end frequency bump did show up time and again. While watching Hateful 8, the bells on the horses seemed to jingle quite loudly and in Solo: A Star Wars Story, blaster sounds were also surprisingly prominent.

The dual drivers should also result in crisper audio free from distortion even if you’re enjoying things at a loud volume. These are minor issues in the grand scheme of things. In fact, the lower high-end frequency, mids, and lows were all balanced in a very pleasing way, and this high-end frequency issue didn’t seem to affect gaming - the sound effects, atmospherics in games such as Tomb Raider, Sekiro Shadows Die Twice and Call of Duty WWII were crisp, detailed and balanced.
