The characters were great and so is the story. It was a nice opening book to the world of Harmony Island. Meet up with Abigail who runs the small bookstore-slash-bakery in town as she fields all the gossip from every do-gooder who comes in her store for a cup of coffee. She also has to navigate her heart as she falls hard for a mysterious construction worker who has an even more mysterious roommate. And one time Shelby helped making breakfast for the guest at the Inn and got some flour on her cheek: I need to take TikTok recommendations with a grain of salt, the scene the author showed was taken completely out of context and made to seem way more dramatic than it was.

In every book, Anne-Marie strives to bring you swoon worthy romance that curls your toes while keeping things sweet and clean. That means no on screen sex, violence, or language. I hate that he's in their kitchen apartment, shirtless, with a dark, hooded look in his eyes, while Anders in distracted by videos games and beer in his room. But I really hate that when I need someone the most, Bash is the one that shows up to help me. My phone chimed again, pulling me from my thoughts. I pushed my purse strap higher up onto my shoulder and then gave him a weak smile. Oh my god! I didn’t realized how good this book was going to be! It was a Tiktok find and let me tell you ! I freaking LOVED it! I felt the girls heartbreak! And the small town first love !. I can’t even describe how much I love this book! I’m dying that I have to wait a year for the second book 😞 . If u could give this book more then 5 stars I would! He was a dad, and it was cute that being a dad wasn’t something he could compartmentalise. He was protective. And there was something about the way he insisted on being protective if me that made my whole body feel light. It was probably because I never had a dad in my life. I wanted to cry. I really did. But it was as if my tears were dried up. There was nothing left. I’d cried so much in the past that it was as if my body was completely incapable of producing tears. I was broken, and this was proof that I was never going to be fixed. What an interesting story about a young woman’s life, her memories from her hometown. Having to deal with the stress from what she endured growing up, and facing the different people in town and their judgement, it’s so stressful. This story is sad, beautiful, enlightening, and loving. Beautifully written.❤️"

Miles is Shelby's ex-stepbrother. They had always gotten along well until he helped destroy her life one night. Shelby just can't forgive him for ruining her life. Miles has loved Shelby for years and he knows she was hurt by his actions but he only wanted to protect her and make her happy. He could see things she couldn't see. I was the only one left carrying the burden of the failure that was our small, dysfunctional family. To be frank, don't waste your time on it, very easy to read, you can read it in a day easily. There is hardly any action 90% of the book. By the time, I got to the good part your just annoying with the author. You don't know what's happening to Abigail and what's happening to the main character and the ex-stepbrother.Miles thinks there's a way for everyone to be happy...but I'm not so sure. And I don't think it's a risk I'm willing to take. Shelby's choices and her internal struggles made me need to keep reading. I had hope that she would come to terms with what happened in her past, and she'd forgive the man who held so much love for her. USA Today Bestselling Author, Anne-Marie Meyer brings you another heart pounding sweet, small town romance! Miles stepped forward with his hand extended. For a moment, I caught what looked like desperation in his gaze before it disappeared. “Why don’t I give you a ride? I mean, the church organized a dinner and everything.” His half smile was weak and did little to dissuade me from what I’d already decided. “The town…misses you.” And sad. And pathetic.
Even though I wanted to console my ego and convince myself that it was okay that Miles had cried more times than I had during the funeral planning. That the funeral director handed him the box of tissues and never offered them to me. Nothing I could say to myself would fix the cold, hard heart my past had left me with.
I wanted to cry. I really did. But it was as if my tears were dried up. There was nothing left. I’d cried so much in the past that it was as if my body was completely incapable of producing tears.

When she's not running after her kids, she's dreaming up romantic stories. She loves to take her favorite moments in the books and movies she loves and tries to figure out a way to make them new and fresh.Miles’s body tightened next to me when our arms brushed. I glanced over at him to see his jaw muscles flex, but his gaze never wavered from the pastor’s face.
Was it strange that my ex-stepbrother was more broken up about my grandmother’s passing than me?
I pursed my lips and turned my attention to my lap.
Yes, that was strange. I hoped Miles didn’t hear my last sentence, but after seeing the small quirk of his eyebrow, regret filled my chest. I grew up watching Hallmark movies and as an adult guiltily indulge in them. This book from start to finish had me smiling, crying and even a moment or two screaming at Shelby and Miles realize what's going on...This is my first time reading anything by Anne-Marie Meyer and I must say I am going to go read everything I can get my hands on that she's ever written." Even though I wanted to console my ego and convince myself that it was okay that Miles had cried more times than I had during the funeral planning. That the funeral director handed him the box of tissues and never offered them to me. Nothing I could say to myself would fix the cold, hard heart my past had left me with.

Don’t even get me started on the nonverbal three year old who only eats cheerios, plays with toys, and takes four naps a day, never needing or interrupting adults. It’s a BIG no for me. I bought this book because of TikTok - do I need to say more? I REGRET IT! It was supposed to be a story about a girl that has a crush on the single dad next door. But what nobody tells you is that they are “ex”-step siblings (parents divorced). That’s the first ich about this book. Then there is the alternating POV that switches between Shelby (MC), Miles (single dad) and Abigail (supposedly new bff of MC) almost every chapter. I was hella confused and couldn’t follow along for the first third to first half of the book. Later I found out it wasn’t a stand alone, as I had thought, bist just part 1 of a series. This story is told through 3 different points of view. Shelby, Abigail, and Miles. It's a story of romance and friendships between women. If you liked the Netflix show, Sweet Magnolias, you'll love this series!TikTok books are a trap. An absolute trap. I watched a few tiktoks that the author posted of scenes from this book. It sounded amazing, especially the scene where he says he needs to protect both of them in the same house. But ugh this book was so incredibly disappointing. Absolutely nothing that happened made sense. The entire book took place in about 5 days worth of time, yet somehow none of it made sense. There was zero character development, I felt absolutely no connection to either of the main characters. And we had POVs from a completely unrelated character. I typically don't bother finishing books that I can't stand the plotline or the timeline, but like I said, I was waiting for that one TikTok scene and it didn't happen until about 90% of the way through the book, and was honestly nothing compared to what the author's posts made it seem like it was going to be about. Anne-Marie Meyer is a USA Today Bestselling author who lives in NWA. She spends her days with her knight in shining armor, four princes, and a baby princess. This story is told through 4 different points of view. Shelby, Miles, Abigail, and Bash. It's a story of romance and friendships between women. If you liked the Netflix show, Sweet Magnolias, you'll love this series! I read this book in one day! I’m hooked on this series. These characters stole my heart right away." --⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reader After ruffling his gelled hair, he began to unbutton his cuffs and roll up his sleeves. “She never wanted you to stay away, but she understood why you left.”
His words were like poison to my soul. It was easier to believe that my grandmother hated me than to think she’d spent her life waiting for me to return.
