Description

I read about the conditions at the various camps and the temperature recommendations for sleeping bags. In wilderness areas, this wouldn't be a problem, but it's more than I like in proximity to other campers. The only potential drawback is the two ports that you can use to inflate or deflate the sleeping pad.

The provided stuff sack also has an integrated pocket that contains a patch kit, should you puncture the pad. Klymit designs and tests all of their gear in the illustrious deserts and mountains of Utah to ensure everything is durable, high-quality, value driven and most importantly, comfortable. Klymit’s sleeping pads are warrantied for life against manufacturing defects and workmanship issues.Caveat: Don't be discouraged if you sit on the sleeping pad after inflation and your tail end bottoms out on the ground. My feet and head go right up to the edges so any shifting at night can take your tootsies right over the edge and cause you to wake with the shivers. I've had the narrower but longer Klymit Insulated Static V since 2017 and been overall very happy with it, but for two things: The noise and the width. I think if you want a good camping mattress that doesn’t break the bank, this is one of the best options right now. From 2020, there is a new industry standard for measuring the R-value (level of insulation) of sleeping mats – ASTM F3340-18.

Klymalite Synthetic insulation: Lightweight, compressible and durable, advanced synthetic insulation in the chambers slows the transfer of air between the top and bottom halves of the pad for improved thermal performance. The design of the mat has not been changed very much so you still get a very comfortable sleep with this. I was immediately taken by how much more comfortable this sleeping pad was compared to other ones I’ve used. season backcountry camping pad: Lightweight insulated air mattress with Klymalite insulation to keep you warm when its cold out; R-Value of 4.

My plan was to use my already tested and loved Cumulus Lite Line 400 sleeping bag, pair it with a Sea to Summit Reactor Extreme liner and have a decent winter sleeping pad to make for a great insulation combo. The Static V had so much luxury in that department that I was disappointed to find this "regular" length almost too short for my 5 foot 9 inch frame. I just quick fill the plastic trash bag, wrap the end of the bag over the valve and squeeze the air into the valve like I'm playing the bagpipes.

Based on my experience, I find that the pad is too cold for comfort at those temps when used with a down bag.Read our About page for more information, and check out our gear reviews, trip reports, and outdoor guides. After 8 days on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro we come back with a review that should help you decide if this is the mat for you. Our testers' most common complaint about this pad was that it tends to make a squeaking sound when you shift sleeping positions. I often suck air out to fully deflate it, but in the end I haven't found this to be a major problem and am very happy with the pad.
