Whoever came up with the phrase “you get what you pay for” pretty much hit the nail on the head. Whilst it’s not always the case and there are many bargains to be had, you can as a general rule, expect the higher priced products to offer better quality than a the cheapest option. We’ll dive into the price of Terra Nova Laser Compact 2 Tent in more detail in a moment. The single forked pole design makes for an easy pitch, while Nemo’s own ‘Flybar’ extends headroom space by giving two additional attachment points for the inner thus widening the width of the roof. This simple freestanding design can either be pitched inner only, or with a lightweight flysheet. If you’re into big, luxurious yet lightweight camping then this is one tent you should consider. Weight. Low priority on my list, but still important. Ask yourself what a reasonable weight for a tent is. Pay particular attention to the distance you’ll be hiking. A simple, effective design with single entrance help keep weight down. The low profile of the tent, guy lines and low-cut fly make it an excellent tent for battling the wind and rain. Another factor that can be a great indication of product quality is the brand. Brands like Terra Nova are of course extremely well known, especially for 2 man tents.

Laser Compact AS

This uses some excellent, ultralight but durable materials and has plenty of nifty little details to, overall, make for a tent we rank very highly here at Outdoors Magic. The outer can be pitched on its own, too, for a super-lightweight setup which still offers a reasonable level of protection. The end poles angle outwards. The top of them is covered by a hood. This protects vents in the end walls. There is also a hood over the top of the flysheet door so this can be left open for ventilation. Overall though weather protection takes priority over ventilation, as it should in a tent designed for winter conditions.

That got us thinking though, that we’re looking at every possible item from Terra Nova so it would be good to narrow our search down even further and only look at Terra Nova branded products within the 2 man tents category. The cost of Terra Nova 2 man tents We couldn’t be happier that U.S. based brand Big Agnes have started to bring their well thought-out and fully featured tents to our side of the pond. This, the Copper Spur HV UL2 is very similar to that of the MSR Hubba Hubba NX in that it’s inner pitched first yet can be used freestanding and without the fly when conditions are more favourable.Another light and spacious tent at a moderate price. There are cheaper options, but with MSR you get that fluffy feeling that comes from the company’s name. All Season Range tents provide tried and tested lightweight performance – including spacious models suitable for year-round use, with fully taped Watershed flysheets for complete waterproof protection. This is really easy to set up, with the one main pole across the width and two short poles at each end. I like the fact it offers a low profile but with plenty of headroom inside – I found I could just about sit up without my head scuffing on the top. The Laser Compact uses the transverse hoop design, which is a classic, much-copied design that Terra Nova used very early on, and they've developed this type of tent further thanmany imitators. The updated 2023 Laser Compact has shaved off only 28g on the last incarnation, but it has improved the breathability and made the inner of the then PFC-free Due to the technical fabrics used, it’s apparently impossible to tape the seams along the pole sleeve. They should be able to keep most moisture out anyway, but for just-in-case protection there’s an external pole cover which handily will add a bit of extra sturdiness to the overall structure.
