This one is not exactly the most hidden place in Manchester however, there are so many locals that have never been that I thought it’d be worth mentioning. The staff at the entrance will explain everything to you and will be more than happy to answer any questions. Make sure to go all the way to the reading room because that’s truly the hidden gem here! It’s stunning! One thing you may not know though, it’s that it’s also home to one of most hidden places in Manchester, the Godlee Observatory.

I’m a big movie guy and doesn’t everyone know it. Honestly, try me. I’ve seen everything at least twice. If you are into your movies but have some catching up to do, you can head over to the central library and watch anything you could possibly dream of in a cool little pod. You can watch some pretty rare stuff too like obscure sitcoms from the 1970s and loads of early camera footage of old-timey people pottering about. Such fun. Prepare for a night of terrifying harmonies as Printworks Manchester goes all out for its latest lip-sync event with a Halloween special this October. Taking place on October 27 at Printworks iconic nightclub, Cargo, the Halloween Lip Sync is taking over The Vault from 7pm – 10.30pm. Former executive chef at Harvey Nichols, Simon Shaw founded El Gato Negro after being inspired by a trip to Catalonia and it’s possibly one of the best tapas restaurants you’ll find in the centre of Manchester. At El Gato Negro, guests can expect a combination of both modern and traditional Spanish flavours with dishes such as truffle salami, salt cod croquetas and braised ox cheek. The restaurant is a real social space, even including a roof terrace, which almost feels like you’ve been transported to the bustling city of Barcelona. Interestingly, Shaw also owns Canto too, a testament to how much he loves creating delicious tapas. El Gato Negro, 52 King St, Manchester, M2 4LY. 3. Evelyn’s Credit: Evelyn’s So, this Manchester hidden gem is about this specific album and you can find it at New Islington Marina. Not to be confused with Eagle Bar in the village, the Eagle Inn on Collier Street, is a proper boozer with a great atmosphere, friendly smiles and a ton of booze. Owned by the same folk who run Gulliver’s and the Castle on Oldham Street, the Eagle has a wide range of live music on their books too. It’s proper in the middle of nowhere this one but once you’ve found it and you’re in – there’s not many reasons to leave.

John Rylands library is by far the most beautiful library, if not the most beautiful landmark, in Manchester. Not only can you dine at Northcote but you also enjoy an overnight stay and cookery class too at the beautifully-refurbished Victorian house on the edge of the picturesque Ribble Valley. Known for its culinary festival Obsession where an impressive line-up of talented chefs each take guests on a culinary experience, the food of Northcote’s Lisa Goodwin-Allen is an absolute must to try. The tasting menu at Northcote features sophisticated cooking, beautiful presentation and incredible flavours with seasonal produce as stars of the dishes, all of which is accompanied by an outstanding wine list.

15. Dokes Pizzeria

The second-oldest library in the city after Chetham’s, you’ll find The Portico hidden away above The Bank pub on Mosley Street. Expanding new concept Dokes Pizzeria – which has so far only been available at the Society food hall – the owners of Ancoats restaurant Elnecot introduced their ‘Anglo-Saxon’ pizzas to Prestwich last summer. You can expect nods to the Old English with their Beowulf pizza topped with pepperoni, ‘nduja, chilli, burrata and pesto; and Roll Right topped with smoked bacon, white onion, Rollright cheese, crème fraîche and new potato (trust us, it works). Dokes in Prestwich is the perfect all-day dining destination – not only serving proper stone-baked pizza topped with the finest British produce (think Welsh chorizo, cured pig’s cheek and English cheeses), but an array of brunch and lunch dishes, too. Expect pasta from Yorkshire, seasonal salads and more – all showcasing the best of British and changing with the seasons. Dokes, 449A Bury New Road, Prestwich, M25 1AF. 16. While Vimto has not stopped anyone from drinking alcohol, it became a very popular drink in Manchester. This month, you’ll be able to hear the music of Ed Sheeran in a new way: performed by a string quartet at a Candlelight concert. On November 24, Manchester Cathedral will be transformed into an even more intimate venue, illuminated by hundreds of glowing candles, surrounding the live performers. You can expect to hear hits from the early days, like The A Team, all the way through to more recent songs, like Bad Habits. 7. It might be a popular area of the city, but next stroll you’re strolling around, be sure to take in some of the impressive buildings. 3.
